Topic: How long did you wait before... Posted: 22 January 2007 at 12:00pm |
Braving the outside world with your toddler in knickers?
Ella has been in knickers at home for the last few weeks with very few puddles, but I'm wondering if I should wait a little longer before we try an outing?

Months! I was way too scared! Maya was fully day TT by 22 months but she was probably 2 1/2 before I braved the world in knickers. That's about when I realised that she was only wetting the Pull Ups because she knew she could.

Han had a dry nappy for our bus ride from Wellington to Palmy North (left 8am in the morn from the house and arrived at the restaurant for lunch about 12) and then she had a dry nap all the way home in my Dad's bus as well. The next day we left in the bus and she continued the dry streak in her nappy so after that I took it off and have never had an accident while out! (All our accidents have been at home )

P.S. That was in the first week of wearing knickers properly at home.

Once we were in knickers full-time (days) at home, I decided to stay that way with exceptions only (out all day or out of town). Hannah actually did better than I thought and I was so paranoid that I remembered to take her often! We only had problems when she was tired.

I took her out straight away. It just meant that I had to ask her if she needed to go all the time. Most of our accidents have been at home too and she is actually getting really good at telling me she needs to go now, when I forget to ask her
We drove up to New Plymouth a couple of weeks ago and she was in knickers the whole time apart from when it was sleep time (luckily she fell asleep in the car). I just take the potty with us if we are going to be away from a toilet for a while (or let her pee in a bush or next to a tree lol).

Andrew was out after 2 days. But that was to daycare. Even then he didn't have any accidents.

I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

I thought better to get it over and done with and we went out straight away in undies but apparently Bailey isnt a normal TT kid! he started taking himself off to the luu and taking his nappy off at 22 months so we went to undies and he never had any accidents and that was day and night! the only accident he had was when he had Dhiarea! and didnt make it to the luu!! im bracing myself for a hard TT next!

Yeah i took kobe out straight away, well after about a week or so I think but once we went to undies we didnt go back to nappies apart from night. Put a potty in your boot just incase and hey if they have an accident then its not the end of the world. I remember Kobe having one at a kind of friends house, she was all like thats ok, its not a big deal as she whips out the bucket, rubber gloves, disinfectent, scrubbing brush! Never went back there while he was still TT!
