Hi, I was looking at getting at getting my daughter a leap pad 2 for her upcoming 4th birthday, but once u get the pad the rechargeable battery's a case and games $30-$50 dollars each its goi g to be crazy expensive for 1 gift!! (She loves playing games on my i phone) so we are thinking maybe a cheap 7" android tablet which all ready has a rechargeable battery in it like computers, and get a case and games are cheap free - $5 ish dollars so sooooo much cheaper !!

BUT I HAVE A FEW QUESTIONS so anybody that has one could you please let me no...

1. Can you have different profiles (lips a computer) so we can only have games and safe things in her one so can't go places she shouldn't and therefore breaking the tablet or seeing stuff she shouldn't eg on the Internet.

2. How durable are they, I mean I no they won't be as tough as a leap pad as not made for kids but shes nearly 4 and knows how to look after stuff 99% of the time and is sooo gentle with my phone!

3. Do your kids love it? I have herd many reviews that kids love there parents iPads/ tablets more than there leap pads (that just sit in the shell not used after there first week or so)

I think they are pretty durable, as long as they aren't dropped from I huge height or on the ground (like concrete) Even then, they are quite durable. As my 3 yr old often 'borrows' her big sisters tablet and has dropped it on ground a few times and it's fine.

Yeah, she loves it(even if it's not her's) and is actually much easier for her to navigate then the Leap Pad 2. As a friend's boy has one and she got quite frustrated with it.

Don't know much about profiles, maybe do some googling. But to avoid the internet surfing, either keep your wireless turned off at home, when your toddler is using the tablet or just make sure that wifi is not enabled. If your wifi is password protected there will be no issue though, as even if your toddler taps the wifi settings on tablet, they can't enable anything without your password.

Hope that helps

You can get  a meep tablet, designed for kids but more versatile than leappad, it has kidproof casing,
full parental control, and more flexible with aps etc..
