Topic: Affordable private ENT doc in AKL? Posted: 14 June 2013 at 1:42pm |
Anyone been to an affordable private ENT specialist for kids? I would like to take Miss 10 months but can't afford the $200 and have heard the wait list for public is ridiculous...

Try ringing around a few? I paid $80 for ours but that was in palmy. Sorry to hear you are back here again!! We are still having ears trouble with no1 (blood and pus oozing everywhere this morning, yay for grommets) but number two's bout of ear infections was much shorter lived.

Thanks T-Rex :-) Yeah No 2 is still sleeping BADLY and although I am a lot more relaxed about it this time, my plunket nurse mentioned that she is really nasally and noisy when she breathes. I started to think about it, and she mouth breathes a lot and snores. So thought maybe I should get her checked out. Have been to a paed and he blew me off (suggested CIO as a solution) so will be pissed if there is actually something wrong! It costs $200 to see one up here :-(

What a rotten paed! I am currently sitting with my littlest girl while she goes to sleep, but once she does she'll hopefully sleep till 5ish so I am enjoying the sleep while I can have it!!
$200 is a lot :(

Yeah he made me feel like total sh*t! Spent half the appt explaining how they let their son cry every night for two weeks then he slept through. Umm dude, I am paying for your MEDICAL opinion, not your parenting one! I have just seen a gp who has referred me to an ENT. I can claim back some of it through my insurance, so I am just going to bite the bullet and do it! GP thinks she may have narrow airway and enlarged aednoids...

Yep, I've reached the point where I've said flat out to a gp "I'm confident in my parenting thank you, I'm here for your medical opinion not your parenting advice" not that I got much useful medical advice out of her either! I hope the wait isn't too long
