First time on forum, so here goes. I have a 7 week old baby boy and we went to my first mum and baby session this morning. Thought it would be good for us to make new friends and interact with others with babies the same age, however come away feeling a little on the outer, disucssion topics included breastfeeding (which I am not) and their delivery experiences, all natural (I had planned c-section) I am a strong woman that made informed choices and still feel like cannot form part of the discussion, as no input on those topics. Has anyone else found the whole coffee groups too much like hard work?
I am just in my early stages of first pregnancy, so I'm sorry that I cannot say I have experienced this first hand. However I can only imagine that I may feel like this a little when the time comes to meet with other mums. I am having a planned c section so am pretty nervous about meeting other mums to be and joining any type of antenatal class as much As I really want to meet others and hopefully make friends with other new mums. There is very very little out there that is not focused on vaginal delivery and breastfeeding. Even most of the baby books focus on post vaginal delivery care mostly. I'm even scared to talk about my plan of delivery with family and close friends as I just don't want any debates! Sorry you had to experience feeling different to the others. I have heard of other mums finding coffee groups hard due to either delivery or feeding differences whether these things were their choice or not. I hope you can find someone who has had an experience similar to yours! There are plenty of mums out there I'm sure. What part of nz are you in?
