Topic: 3 or 4 kids? Posted: 30 March 2013 at 8:18pm |
hi guys, just want to get some feedback from those of you with 3 children or those that have gone on to have 4 children.
I have 3 children all pretty close in age and we are tossing up whether to have one more. My husband is pretty happy with the 3 we have and now wants to start doing more with them rather than to be back with a newborn again. I am really happy with the 3 that we already have but can't help but keep thinking about having another one. The main problem is that I hurt my back about 6 months ago but it is slowly starting to get better. The other things that we are considering are whether we would have enough time for each of them if we were to add one more.
Those of you with 4 children do you regret having another one, did you feel like this before you had your fourth and are you happy now? I dont know whether i am just missing the newborn stage or whether it is because I just want one more. And for those that have decided that 3 is enough, did you feel like this after your 3rd or did you just know that you were finished?
Thanks so much for your replies.

How old are your 3?
I've got 9, 4 & 1. The expenditure for them is just starting to increase. I have a friend with 4 who always said don't go there lol
One of the main things I'm finding a little difficult with having 3 is that Grandparents aren't as willing to take 2 off your hands as they are 1. Definitely won't be often that they take all 3 [:/]

Hi AandCsmum, thanks for your reply. Totally agree with you about grandparents! They ask about taking 1 but that almost makes it harder as you need to entertain the other one missing his buddy! My three are 3, 2, and 8 months. The oldest will be 4 in June though, but all really close in age. If we were to have another then we would want them close as well. What did your friend say about 4? Thanks

Basically the expense once they start doing more activities is what she was talking about. I know at times she wished she'd not had #4 at times.
Gosh I take my hat off to you, I love that my oldest is at school & that my middle one is in kindy 5 days. Mind you I do love having lots of kids around, but thankfully my extras go home before that bedtime hour hits.
For me it's way easier to decide no more cause I know what older kids are like & to now go back to the nb stage again, it's no way no how. Plus travel, eeekkkkkkk flights are horrendous!

Yeah that sounds about right, we haven't got to the activities stage yet, and then I suppose you have to drive them around everywhere x 3.
Thanks for your thoughts. I might be just missing that first stage where you meet your baby for the first time.

Oh god yeah that is the most gorgeous part. I must say though, the burst of pride that I have when ever my kids, especially my first, do something awesome or cute, totally trumps that though Actually even if they're not doing so well but try so hard it still brings tears to your eyes & a big load of mummy pride.
