Topic: A dress for my Daughter Posted: 22 January 2013 at 10:45pm |
I'm looking for a dress for my daughter to wear to our wedding, but i'm finding it difficult. There are tonnes of options for toddlers, but little in the way of infant dresses. She will be 8 moths old at the time of our wedding. Does anyone know of any stores in Auckland or any online stores where I might be able to find anything suitable? Thanks

Thanks, but am looking for something a little more formal than what they have. It's a special occasion for us so we'd like to have a formal dress for her too. :-)

Can you sew or know someone that can? You can get a singlet - bonds and add tulle to the bottom of the singlet like a skirt then but a nice satin bow around the waist????
Or you could look at Kids Republic they have some nice stuff. Also Farmers sometimes had some nice outfits I know they sell mini size suits so sure they would have lovely dresses as well.

I might be out of the loop about what formal is, but I thought PP had some really lovely 'special' little girl outfits. We got the one below for a wedding for my daughter from them.

I don't know where in the country you are, but in South Auckland I'd recommend going to Otahuhu or Manurewa and asking in the shops that sell Pacific Island clothing. Their churches have a celebration called White Sunday and the little boys wear tuxedos and the girls wear flower-girl type dresses, even infants.

if you and your baby were guests at the wedding id say the PP ones looked quite good, since its YOUR wedding I think a white one and if you can a sash that matches the bridesmaid dresses, the shops Mrs Mac mentioned that sell Pacific Island clothing sound like a good idea. Otherwise maybe have a look on FB,i've found a lot of pages with very talented women doing amazing sewing that could probably make something for you

Oh, for your *own* wedding (I didn't pay enough attention). I'd get the dress made, or the white sunday option sounds like a possibility.

www.etsy.com it is a USA website but lots of the sellers ship to NZ.
Really boutique gorgeous stuff perfect for weddings. You can set it so it only shows sellers that ship to NZ and it automatically converts everything to NZD so you know what you will be paying. Also they have the freight prices included on each page so you know exactly how much it will cost.
I got the wall stickers for the nursery from Etsy and have bought some other things too I love it!

Have you found one? Someone has one listed on Manawatu buy n sell. Fits up to 68cm so might just be ok?

Have you looked at www.missfrilly.co.nz - this is an online New Zealand business that specialises in wedding dresses for girls. Our flowergirl wore their ballerina style dress. They start at size 1.
