Topic: Nausea + BFN Posted: 10 May 2012 at 7:31pm |
Hi all.
I have been TTC for 1 month now.
Had my last period on 7th of April which was when I stopped the pill. So this would also be the first month I have ovulated (if I did).
Prior to going on the pill my periods weren't hugely regular but were always around the 28 days mark. With a day or two either side. Day 28 this month would have been Saturday. No signs of AF since then......
I have done 2x home tests this week, both negative.
But I am struggling with this awful most of the day nauseous feeling and a feeling I can only describe as 'butterflies' in my stomach. Like you get when your anxious but I don't normally get anxious. Also it comes on when I am concentrating on other things and not thinking about pregnancy at all.... so I am pretty sure its not anxiety related.
I am just wondering if it is still possible that I am pregnant? I guess that I could have ovulated a lot later in the cycle than I realised. We BDed regularly up until 10 days ago (well after my predicted ovulation date).
Just basically wanting to have a rant to people who might understand seeing as I can't really talk to anyone at work about it/friends as we haven't told anyone we are TTC.
Also got sent home from work today cause apparently I looked terrible. Felt horribly nauseous at the time. My colleagues already all think I am pregnant and when I deny it... they say 'I don't believe you'.
Unfortunately I work in the hospital so they are all doctors who are apparently not that stupid.
Sigh
Thanks for reading my rant.

You could ask one of your colleagues to do a blood test...it will either shut them up or prove their point! Its a hard one having just come off the pill - your cycle might just be taking its time to get started in a natural rhythm but I really hope that's not the case and you're UTD!

Yeah. I think though to avoid disappointment I will wait until Monday. Because if I did ovulate late then I would expect AF to arrive by the coming weekend. So if its STILL not here on Monday then maybe I should get a blood test.....
And maybe I just have a stomach bug and thats why I feel unwell.

sorry not trying to disappoint you either, but for me pregnancy related nausea only set in at around 5 weeks. Of course it's different for everyone andI really hope you are UTD too!

Thank guys!
I am trying very hard not to get my hopes up so I am trying not to think about it too much. Which is difficult when I spend several hours every morning trying not to throw up..... As I keep telling myself probably just a viral bug that will go away!!
Bring on AF so I can go for next month!!!

it does sound a little odd though, if it's that bad with the nausea.

I felt sick for a month or 2 after stopping the pill, it was only the minipill but the hormones still made me feel like poo. I hope that you are UTD or you feel better soon and AF arrives so you can get back to TTC

Yeah I wouldn't mind if I wasn't UTD as it would be pretty lucky for our first cycle. Its just the not knowing that I can't handle.
My nausea has settled down quite a bit. So might have been a viral bug. But there are still no signs of AF. So fingers crossed she arrives soon so I can get back to trying :D

I would definitely go and get a blood test from your GP so you know one way or the other.
My first month TTC#1 my AF was 3 days late and I felt nauseated but then I got a heavy AF and I still wonder if it was a very early loss.
2 months later my AF was late again but I kept getting BFN's, it was only a blood test that showed I was actually UTD! Sometimes urine tests don't show up a BFP for quite a few days after AF is due.
Good luck!!!

Well I am going to wait another week or so before doing anything drastic like going to the doctor
I figure I might do another urine test at the end of this week...... That will be like day 43.... which is a really long time. And if thats negative then I will rethink my plan of attack!

I have also noticed that I really can't tolerate sweet things these days.... the idea of cakes/muffins/chocolate just make my stomach twist and turn. Whereas I am normally a massive sweet tooth. Its very odd. But again I wonder if I am just imagining it all.

Hi sag.... no I haven't got any news to report.
Still no AF..... no signs at all.
Had a BFN at what was 10 days after AF was due and haven't tested since as I have basically given up. Never ended up going for a blood test as I figured it was an overreaction and AF will most likely turn up. If it hasn't by day 60 then I will probably get a test done :D

NZVeggie, I didn't get a BFP until 14 days past AF due, but with the constant vomiting I had very little doubt that there was a bean on the inside
Good luck, don't give up!!

Wow, Rachaels, that is encouraging!!
I still secretly FEEL like I am/should be pregnant. But I haven't had the guts to test again. I said to myself that if I haven't had any signs of AF by CD 60 then I will test again, which would be on Monday..... That way I can at least continue to control my hopes and tell myself I am not pregnant. I feel that testing too soon would be such a downer and I have managed NOT to test for 2-3 weeks now.

I don't know how you can hold back from going for a blood test NZVeggie!!! I was only 1 or 2 days day post AF due and went to have a blood test. I was getting BFN's but just wanted to know either way. The Dr didn't think I was weird or anything. Turned out I was pg too! I hope you do find out one way or the other soon. Best of luck!

Hope you have some answer either way by now,I know im posting a bit late here :-)
Just wanted to say that when I went off the pill I had a 41 day cycle.....and then got pregnant the next cycle,I think it just needed that first cycle to get back into things.
So if you aren't pregnant this cycle,I hope you have the same outcome I did next month, all the best :-)
