Just wondering if anyone else has had this...

We have a nearly 10month old and we are having early wake-ups around 4 normally and not wanting to go back to sleep. We have tried feeding but not interested. We have tried letting him cry it out but that doesn't work. We have tried trying to settle him but it doesn't work. We have even tried letting him play in his bed with a light on and that only works for 10mins.

He normally wakes in the middle of the night as well but goes back to sleep after a bottle.

He generally has two sleeps a day about 3 or 4 hrs after he wakes. One sleep is about 2hrs and the other about 45mins.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Not too sure really. Probably just a phase, how long has it been going on? What time does he go to bed?

I think if it was me I would persist with the resettling (though I am not as sleep deprived and exhausted as you are probably feeling). Could one of you lay on the floor next to his cot and 'pretend' to rest and hope that he follows suit. I still do this occasionally with Mr.2 in our house when he is unsettled. He thought it was funny at first but now he will rest and when he sees my eyes are closed and that playing isn't on the agenda he gives up and goes to sleep.

No way that you can start your day at 4am

You could try dropping a day sleep I guess but he seems pretty young for that.

I am sure that one of boys has probably done this in the past but it must have been shortlived as I can't remember it!

ETA : he isn't cold or something like that is he?

Thanks for that - I have tried "sleeping" next to his cot and it sort of seemed to work but always seem to forget to take a blanket so have to leave which sets us back to the start. So will give it a go again - although having said that after my complaining message he slept till 6 for the last 2 mornings fx it continues.

Yeah not cold we were thinking maybe hot?? Oh well lets hope it is a phase and it is over
