hey
my DS is 8weeks old and 5.8kg
just wondering how much formula hes meant to have each day?
atm he drinks 150ml at his early morning feeds (2-3 feeds) then throughout the day it drops to 100ml (3-4feeds)and at night to 50ml. (2-3feeds)

It should tell you the approx amount he should be having on the formula container So long as hes settling happily after a feed and looking well then I wouldn't be too concerned if its abit more or abit less though.

If he is happy and gaining some weight i wouldn't worry.
I know thats easy to say but less easy to do!

If he is happy and healthy and pooing and peeing and growing and sleeping as all babies should, then keep doing what you are doing. How would you get the extra formula in anyway? If he doesn't want it then he probably doesn't need it and it is pretty hard to force feed a baby.

Remember that the mums that are breastfeeding have no idea how much milk baby gets, just because you have a bottle with volume markings on it doesn't mean that your baby will fit the average, but will instead drink what they need.

If you are worried about weight gains or the health of your baby in any other way, then it is best that you talk to your GP or Plunket.

I agree with the above, happy healthy, wet/dirty nappies it's all good.

The book I read said that baby shouldn't finish every drop of a bottle. If they do, then they probably need more no matter what the can says.
From that I take it, if he's not finishing every bottle but carrying on his day happy he's getting enough.

Plus hes having quite a few feeds so he may be spacing a similar amount out over more feeds.
