Topic: Supplemetns and Herbals Posted: 03 August 2011 at 11:24am |
Sorry if there's something like this floating around, but I couldn't see a topic like it.
What supplements/herbals/therapies does everyone recommend in the help of getting UTD? I TTC'd for 2 years without anything first time around then started taking EPO and got pregnant. This time around however the EPO isn't working so far...

Or go see a naturopath & they'll put you on something specifically that you need.
Mine put me on a combo of a couple of things.

Was wondering what happens at a consult with a naturopath, do they just ask questions about cycles etc?

@Mumma2be, naturopath I went to see was asking heaps of q's - about cycles, ovulation, period (colour, amount), pains, symptoms (tender breasts etc etc). Was also asking about general health, especially bowel movements as digestion (and any issues with it) plays a bit part and can hugely affect TTC.
@white_rabbit, I wouldn't rely on advice from the forum on what herbs to take...there are just so so many out there, and also the quality differs depending on where you buy from too. I thought Zinc was an important one both for me and DH (after googling and reading TTC books etc) but naturopath said I didn't need any; not that it would've hurt but it might just not do anything for you specifically (you might have enough of it already!) and it'd just be a waste of time and $$. How long have you been trying for #2? There are just so many things that could be out of whack (timing, or your health or your DH's health....) it really is unique for every couple and I am finding that the best way if you have any concerns is to talk to a specialist....be in naturopath or fertility clinic or even just GP. Helps though to be prepared with some knowledge and questions, and that's where I find forums like this can help...as you will see someone recommending you take Vitex (chaste berry) but maybe read up on it first then ask what your doctor thinks of YOU taking it...
Good luck! =)

Honestly you're better off spending a bit of money going to see a naturopath who can analyse you and your DH/DP's situation, run through any issues, they will ask LOTS of questions, and often get you to complete questionnaires.
They can then base the herbal supplements they recommend on your individual body, rather than generalised recommendations on what may/may not have worked for other women, as no one is the same as you, so best bet, go see a naturopath rather than waste lots of money guessing on what will work.

Topkat: calcium and magnesium for a girl? I haven't heard of that my naturopath put me on it for headaches and muscle spasms during my last two pregnancy's.
Never heard it could produce a girl ??
