Hi there. I was wondering if anyone had any activity or play groups they would recommend in Christchurch for under 2's? Are the library Baby Times any good? I have no clue how to find anything like that.
DD goes to nursery 3 days a week while I'm at work so she's getting some play and social time in, but I'm thinking maybe we should do some activities together. I could certainly stand to get out of the house

I'm on the Wigram/Hornby side of town, but willing to travel a bit because I need something on a day I don't work (weekend, Monday or Tuesday).

If you look on the Council website, www.ccc.govt.nz, and look under libraries, I'm sure they'll have the Babytime session times and dates on there. I haven't been but I do know of others who have gone and enjoyed it. I hope that helps :)

I've been thinking the same thing lately Bky! I don't really take DD to anything like that. I work 4 days a week but my parents have her then. We do go out heaps on my days off but not to 'kiddy' things cause to be honest, I find some of the mums a bit OTT lol. But I'm keen to look into something. I too am over Hornby way

I had a look at the library sessions and all the ones remotely nearby (Hornby and Upper Riccarton) are either cancelled due to library closures or just at the wrong time for me. Things being cancelled because of earthquake damage and resulting disarray has unfortunately been the story of our lives in terms of groups for us.
I'm thinking of doing a baby/preschool swim class at Kings Swim school. I think the upcoming term starts August 1 but I need to call them for times and so on.

I went to the Shirley library baby time sessions a couple of times before the earthquakes put paid to that... I do know Bishopdale library now runs them twice a week to compensate, Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 (which I've been meaning to go to but at that time it often clashes with the end of morning nap).

I also take DS to council swimming lessons at Jellie Park (also held at Pioneer) - he 's them and they've also increased lessons I believe to make up for the closure of QEII, so there should be one that suits (enrolments for the next term are underway now)
