Topic: doctors pregnancy tests Posted: 11 July 2011 at 11:28am |
Hi all just wondering if you could help me, I've just taken a test (that I got from the doctor) and it has a very faint 2nd line. You have to hold it up into the light to see it. Does this mean it's positive??

Alicia! You didn't say anything in the Feb thread! :o
I know preg tests from doctor's offices tend to be cheap generic ones, probably just because they go through so many and can't charge for them, but if the second line came up within the time limit then I'd believe it.
No harm in taking another test to be sure though! Go get a First Response (or a pack of 3 of them!), I swear by them. I've never had a faulty test or an evap line, and I got a strong second line at 3.5 weeks with C so they are certainly sensitive.
Good luck!

You fertile mertile you!!!
Certainly sounds positive to me, I always found the doctors tests to be quite insensitive too, so you could be a few weeks along already too.
Very exciting!!!

Everyone is so excited and I'm so bloomin scared!! I did a clearblue test and that came up negative so I'm booked in to the doctor cos the risk of having an ectopic are high apparently when you have your tubes clipped

Oh my Alicia! FX it will all be ok! But that is rather exciting! How far along would you be?
I have never had any evaps on the doctor's ones. They always worked for me.

Holy crap Alicia, how scary for you! If you dont want to wait then get a discover from any radius chemist as they are much more sensitive than any other HPT

OMG LC!!! I say a line is a line too. This time around with my first couple of HPTs the lines were so faint I thought I was seeing things. They got progressively darker over a couple of days ...
Big hugs hun, I hope it works out whichever way you want it to

Did a test at the doctors and it didn't show anything straight away so the doctor wanted to throw it out lol. I've brought it home and dh reackons he can see a faint 2nd line but I've got to have blood tests done anyway so I'll go and do that tomorrow. So I'm still none the wiser

Gah, I think the not-knowing-for-certain is the worst bit. At least with bloods you'll know one way or the other. FX'd they get your test processed nice and quick (and then you can let all your stalkers know too )

I was about to ask this too tauris.
the Drs test that my Doc's use are MSD quick cards and have a sensitivity of 50, and First response is 25 and discovers are 15, so it should show on one of them as more of a line.
I dont reckon you can get two faint +ve's on the same test two days in a row for it to not be accurate.
and personally for me my faint +ves on those tests had me with a blood HCG of 29 then 43
