My step dad has a 'horror story'. While getting it done the doctors watch touched one of the metal instruments and he got an electric shock through his balls.....

Omigosh Wriggles. Had to laugh at that, hard not to, but that really is quite awful!
DH is all for getting it done after our surprise 3rd baby is born in Feb. Would happily get it done sooner, but just want to make sure all goes okay with this one first, then off for the snip snip for him. Hope your DH comes round to the idea. I don't think the procedure these days is very invasive anyway. He could do a quick trip in his lunchbreak and be back to work in the afternoon!

A guy I work with got a bit of a botch up. He was soooo sore for at least a week. All bruised and sore and swollen (unfortunately, he was happy to share the details with us). And 1yr later, his wife had a baby lol. FAIL! He has since had it done.... CORRECTLY

Lol my Dad is probably one of the horror stories, apparently back then they put a little magic pill up ya bum to make you feel good LMAO. So dad went and had a few beers with my grandad and chopped some wood or something, then the next morning him & mum decided to "make sure it still worked" and he went to get out of bed and couldn't move. They reconed he had bruising up to his belly button and down to his knees and couldn't move for a week LMAO!
Thanks mum, for sharing that with me, way TMI for my liking lol
And probably doesn't help your case ;) but as long as he doesn't go drink beer and chop firewood i'm sure he'll be fine.

I guess the problem is you hear too many of the horror stories and not so many of the problem free ones.
None of our friends that have had them recently have had any issues.
ETA: price seems to be between $200-300 and one of our friends managed to get it for free.

We have been quoted $400 and our health insurance (Sthn X) covers the whole lot.

DH had it done cost $250 it took half an hour. Make sure you get a dr who cuts, ties and burns! Won't rejoin then. 2 pairs of undies for the first few days for extra support. Dh had it on fri arvo and I had to stop him mowing the lawns on sunday morning!! Back to work Monday, the best thing we ever done. Great not having to worry about pills and late periods! He highly recommends it :)

My DH had it done 6 months after our daughter was born. Afterwards he commented that he could not believe that more people (men) don't do it. He had it done on a Thursday and was back at work on the next Monday.
You hear so many horror stories, but they are rare - many men go through this and come out the other side absolutely fine. My DH felt that this was his contribution to our life - I took the pill, had the babies and then he had the snip. I love not having to take the pill anymore and he says he likes the fact that I don;t have to put that crap in my body anymore.
Tell him he can do it!

My DH has had a vasectomy, then five years later a reversal and he is more than happy to have another vasectomy now. He reckons it's a walk in the park :-)

DH has had both the vasectomy and the reversal and will have the vasectomy again. Compared to the "extensive bruising" as his reversal surgeon described it, the vasectomy itself is no big deal.

lololol... Right, so he doesnt want more babies? So you say to him: 'Honey, i'm not going to take any more birth control and we're not buying condoms anymore. Do you still want to BD? Then get the snip!' hehehe.
I'm in the process of trying to convince mine again after the DR scared him off getting it done.
They do have to have 25 ejaculates before they can get the sperm count tested to make sure they're all good, so perhaps (and sorry if this is too TMI!) you could make it a fun game or something getting to that stage? Almost a treat for him?
Men can be such pansies. Give him leaflets on getting your tubes tied with graphic pictures and stuff and then see if he wants you to do it or if he should get a vasectomy :P Mind games work! heeheh
