Just wondering what your 3 month olds are/were doing nap wise. My DS2 doesn't seem to fit the pattern that so many books/people etc suggest.

He seems to like his longer nap in the afternoon (e.g.2.30-5ish) rather than the classic lunch time one (e.g 11.30-2). He tends to have two short naps in the morning/over lunch. It doesn't bother me really cos at least he is getting the right amount of sleep in the day. I also know that it changes like the wind having been through nap issues with DS1! I am just more interested to see if others are doing this sort of pattern.

thanks!

DD always had her longest sleep in the afternoon, he lunch time one is the one that's been dropped/shortened we are often out at this time as well.

At 3 months she was still barely lasting 1 - 1 1/2 hours awake time before needing a nap, and those naps would be anywhere from 45mins to 2 hours long.

At three months Jacob didn't have a routine as such, he was just awake as long as he could last (pretty consistantly about 45 mins to an hour), then had a sleep. He's always been shoddy at sleeping more than one sleep cycle, so they were usually 40 mins or so long. So our pattern was different - but I think at that age, whatever suits them goes.

Sounds the same as DS, he'd have 2x 45 min naps in the morning, an hour around lunch time and in the arvo conk out for 3hrs plus. He never fitted a routine either though i feed on demand so 2hourly ish rather then 4hourly like most books would reccomend for his age. (age now, not aged 3 months). I just went with the whole feed play sleep thing but how it suited him (or me!) not watching a clock.

Mine had 1.5hrs in the morning at about 9am and another 1.5 in the afternoon from about 1pmish at that age. Tried to encourage a bit more but every day was different.
