Hi,
This is weird and i'm not complaining in anyway, but this last week, DS2 has got a lot better at self settling, I pop him down awake normally with a dummy to get him all sleepy, he then spits it out and goes to sleep at some point, sometimes he grizzles a bit, not actually crying but grizzles for a few mins then it goes quiet, I have just assumed he is asleep but for some reason yesterday I went back in to check and he is just lying there eyes wide open and when he saw me - huge grin, so I said its sleep time, bounced the bassinet and his eyes went all droopy.
Went downstairs carried on it was all quiet for ages, so left it about 1.5 hours which would have been a good sleep, still quiet, popped up wide awake, not unhappy but wide awake.
Again this morning, popped him in bed at 8, 2 or 3 mins grizzling then quiet, looked round - wide awake, left it, he then did fall asleep as I checked, now I can hear him wriggling around again after about 45 mins in bed.
I have always just assumed if they are in bed and its quiet they are asleep!!
Anyway i feel weird leaving him bed knowing he is awake, but he's not slept enough and will be tired, so do I just leave him as he is not crying, get him up after what would be a decent nap and carry on????????????
This has only been in last few days, normally he sleeps 45 mins wakes up crying, but now he seems to just be awake in bed a lot, is rest as good as sleep?
When I get him up he manages an hour or just over an hour before he really gets upset and is tired but that might be partly as he doesn't sleep the whole time he is in bed.
