Topic: Playgroups in Lower Hutt Posted: 10 May 2011 at 2:05pm |
Hi all,
Just looking for recommendations for good playgroups in Lower Hutt. Which days and also how much they cost would be great if you know.
What have been people's experiences with Mainly Music and Gymbaroo? Are they worth the cost?
Thanks!

I'm in L/Hutt and we attend a playgroup at Knox Church on the High street.
It's a great venue with an outdoor play area and heaps of indoor toys, books, playhouse etc.
The session I attend is through my Multiple Birth Club but there are other playgroups run there on various days, although I've heard there is a waiting list.
Also the Salvation Army has a playgroup on Thurs & Fri mornings. I think the cost is $2 for the first kid and $1 for each extra kid. I haven't been but some friends go and have said it's really good.
Can't help with Mainly Music or Gymbaroo sorry but I take my girls to Bounce & Rhyme at the libray. It's free and is held on Mon & Tues at the War Memorial Library (which conveniently has a playground right next door).

The Salvation Army playgroup is great. Really friendly and mum's get morning tea every week too! And all for $2. There are lots of lovely toys and equipment and a music time at the end.
We also go to mainly music and my DS1 really enjoys it.
Have also been to Gymbaroo when DS1 was 6 months old. We loved it but didn't go back due to my own work commitments etc.

Depending on what you're after, we've just started going to Rimutaka Gymnastics - it's $6 a session (my son is 2) and I pretty much throw him in the door and he runs in circles for a good 40 minutes or so I love it especially the nap when he gets home

We go to the Petone Salvation Army playgroup (I tried the Hutt one but much prefer the Petone crew, personally) which is Wednesday and Friday mornings. $2 and the kids and parents get fed. Love it!

You could always sign up to Playcentre. I've only been to one session so far, so can't report much yet.
Where is Mainly Music being held in Lower Hutt?

We're actually already going to playcentre... have been for years. Just looking at other options.
