    Posted: 26 April 2011 at 1:12pm
I have decided, against my better judgement, to dye my hair blonde myself.
I have had a few disasters in the past, but I can't really afford to get my hair coloured at a salon at the moment.

I have dark blonde (eg mousey) hair and want to dye it blonde. Can anyone recommend a good home hair dye that isn't going to make my hair go that awful orange blonde colour??

Thanks.

Sorry can't recommend anything - I'm too scared to do it myself. But maybe try one of the highlighting kits in a semi permanent rather than a block permanent, that way if it goes bad you won't be stuck with it.

I use to dye my hair blonde myself. I used the Loreal ones and that worked fine. I just made sure I kept it on for the full length of time. The one time I was antsy and took it out too soon and it went ginger lol.

you can get a toner from farmers, it's called Schwarzkopf Nordic blonde toner. After you rinse your hair, before you condition apply some of this, leave on for a few minutes (not too long though otherwise you will end up with purple hair!) Gets rid of all the unwanted yellow and ginger tones After a bad experience at the hairdressers a couple of months back I bleach my own hair and this stuff works wonders and you can only imagine the tones I get from home bleach and yeah go for the full length of time!

Hopefully this link works Clairol Summer Blonde 2

I personally have coloured my own hair plenty and lightened it plenty and screwed it up and eventually fixed it plenty.

I found this colour worked perfectly, as it's is neuralising and it's doesn't cause any brassiness, gold or orange tones. It's really good.

Also, I used this: Conditioning Treatment for Blonde after, which has toning properties and helps restore the health after lightening.

If 1 box doesn't make it light enough, try doing another box in a few days.
