Hi there minxynzl-just found this topic, didnt know you could breast feed on the combined pill??  Just got a script for the mini, thought that was the only one you could take??? Sorry completely new at this so have no idea

I've done a little research and it appears that taking the CP doesn't neccesarily affect BF. Would be great to know if anyone has used it while BF and had no issues with milk supply.

Kellymom (great website by the way!) says it's safe, but that it COULD affect milk supply.

Hey I know!!

Umm I went on the mini pill at about 3-6 months (but DP wasn't keen) from 6 weeks - 3 months was on Depo and after 6 months back on Depo but the Family Planning nurse told me I could go on the Combined Pill as I had been BFing past 6 months (she said to me 6 months was the min) but my doctor knew nothing about it so wouldn't prescribe it to me. Have a chat to your doctor and get her/him to research it if they aren't sure but I was told 6 months before you can take it so your supply can settle etc.

eta: I haven't gone on it yet, am waiting for Depo to wear off in a months time then going to try and we'll still be BFing.

I did when DD was 12months, we stopped bfing within a mth of that though, and I would say main reason my supply dropped was because we had only been doing one bf for about 4mths so was slowly depleting itself anyway
