Im going to start buying wine for our wedding but DF and I didnt drink it so I need some ideas of nice wines!

And how long can we store wine for (unopened of course) and any ideas of how to work out how much we will need per head? We are also going to supply beer so need to work out how much to get as well.

We went with Lindau (sp?) as our fizzy stuff, Montana Reisling as white and Montana *something else* as red. I think we got about 4 doz for about 120 guests, which was too much (with beer as well). We had most of the red left, about 6 bottles each left of the whites.

Dh and I didn't drink wine either so I figured something basic and well known was the best bet. We got all of our booze from supermarkets on special or from BIL as he worked at Montana.

I *think* we got about 6 boxes of beer -stubbies (do they come in 18 or 24 packs there, I can't remember!). Anyway, we only had about a doz left. Someone nicely started the rumor that we were out of beer so all the big beer drinkers went home lol.
We got a mix of Export, Speights and Tui.

Most of the supermarkets do some pretty good wine specials. We had Matua whites, five flax, lindeau etc. Most of these can be on special for as cheap as $9 bottle. They will all last fine unopened, we bought ours up to a year in advance. We also had way too much for our wedding, we had 100 guests & only went through about 40 bottles. We had beer as well. Good luck!

Where are you planning to have your reception and will they let you bring your own? A lot of venues wont if they have a licence. They make money off you buying theirs.
