Topic: Grrrrr how to stop them ringing??? Posted: 14 February 2011 at 5:16pm |
We keep getting phone calls from people asking if they are speaking to the owner of the phoneline then they say they are ringing about our windows operating systems and thats as far as I have let them get before hanging up on them
My question is how do i stop them ringing? its driving me crazy and they seem to be calling more and more at really annoying times

Write down the dates / times of the calls and give Telecom a call - they can log them as nuisance calls (if it is happening often enough). Have a look at this for more info -

tell them you are recording the call and have just written down their phone number from the caller ID and will be contacting the police straight after the call. that should get rid of them

Laugh hysterically and tell them what a crock they just spouted.
Worked for me, we were getting heaps of calls too.

Buy a whistle? I usually wouldn't recommend it, but these scammers deserve a busted eardrum

I went along with them "Oh wow! You're kidding! How scary" and then ended with "but we don't have the internet . . . " and the woman hung up and never rang back

Haha they did that to my parents then a few weeks later we got a call. I said what a load of BS and hung up. They rang back a few days later and DH told them we had a mac pc (we don't) so he said I'll put you on to my supervisor. He quickly said sorry can't help and that was the end of that!
They are sooo annoying!

There was a piece in the otago daily times a few weeks ago from the police saying to keep details and foward them to the police, sounds like there is alot of this going on atm.

Our phone number isnt listed in the phone book so we dont get any of those calls. Next time a new lot of phone books are about to come out ask to be removed from the list.
But for now, definitely keep a track of the date and time they are ringing! Id be complaining!

They called us twice last night - DD answered first and was talking to him about kindy for about 5mins...then when I got on, I said "oh, so this is a scam" - the answer was "no madam, it's a serious problem that you need to address". DP ended up ranting at them when they rang back and they didn't call back. Persistant though!
haha I like your nana's neighbor MF!

We got 4 of these calls within a 24 hour period. 2 of them DH answered and he strung them along for an hour (each time grr) using a virtual computer that he gave them access to, and then rickrolling them. Silly IT geeks. The other 2 I got and hung up on them straight away

LOL.This is what DH would do. I just asked them what company they work for and they hang up. Havnt rang back since.
There is a computer scam currently doing the rounds where people ring and want remote access to your computer.
