Topic: Powershop Posted: 14 February 2011 at 10:39am |
Just got another letter saying that Genesis are raising their prices. So am looking at switching.
Powerswitch says powershop is the way to go.
For those that are using powershop are you happy with them?

I've moved back in with my parents, but I was previously with Powershop. I really liked them. I'm not sure that the price of electricity was a lot cheaper, but I found it really useful to be able to enter my own meter readings, look at the graphs and see how much electricity I was using, and also to buy "power packs" in advance. I prepaid for all of my electricity (but you don't have to). You can buy packs in advance and save them up for winter, or whatever.
I would definitely use them again. I liked feeling in control of my power bill.

I think they are great. I don't prepay my power, I just get them to purchase on my behalf.

I love them! I feel like I can monitor what we use more with them... we do a combo of prepay and letting them purchase for us. Like if there's a cheap deal I'll buy it and then let them top up the rest. The service is brilliant too, like they always respond immediately to any concerns I've ever had. Dunno how they compare price wise, but I don't feel like we pay too much..

We use them, DP always pre pays when there's specials on.. Our power 'bill' is always so much cheaper than friends when we talk about how much we spend a month, and we dont scrimp on power so to speak

We use Powershop for our business and have had no issues and are easy to deal with.
We did recently receive a letter saying prices were going up though, so I dont think your safe with prices not going up with them aswell.

I'm another Powershop user and I'm happy with them too. I like how they have 'specials' (like today they had some cheap power-packs for Valentines Day... on Waiangi Day they had the $18.40 pack ) and I like monitoring my usage with their graphs etc.
Found them brilliant when I switched over, was completely hassle-free.
Oh, and recently had Genesis power around doing a door-knock - when I told them I was with Powershop he said "Well, I won't bother continuing, as I know you won't bother switching 'cause we can't match them" so there ya go, a big from their competitors too!

I also got a letter from Genesis saying ours was going up. Last time i had an increase i worked it out that power shop would cost us the same.
This time they are bound to be cheaper.
What does it mean for them to buy it for you? im a bit confused

I think the price increase with powershop is to offset a really high increase in winter ie spread it out a bit. And then after winter it's going back down.
At least that's what I gathered from the email from them.
SMS them buying it for you just means you get a bill at the end of the month.

What exactly is Powershop and what are the advantages of it? I had a look at their website but still don't really understand it.

Hmm might look into them more, I didn't know you could pre buy packs!
Our power bill is usually only around 80 a month over the whole year cause of no heating & gas bottles.
