Hi, Just wondering if anyone is pregnant/has been pregnant while taking Loxamine/Aropax? I would like to start trying for a baby but I'm concerned about the effects this drug could have during pregnancy and also later on during breastfeeding. If anyone has any experience with this I'd love to hear from you.

Sorry, no personal experience, but I do remember reading that it is not particularly recommended during pregnancy (see here), but it is okay for breastfeeding, apparently. Perhaps your doctor could switch you to another, more "pregnancy-safe" drug before you start trying for a baby?

I'm no expert, so I'd say definitely talk to your doctor about it.

Have you tried other meds? I was on prozac/fluoxetine for most of my pregnancy with no problems. Interestingly it's the opposite of your situation, it was fine for the pregnancy but then they wanted to switch me to paroxetine before delivery as less of the drug passes through the breastmilk.

I ended up coming off the fluoxetine about 6 weeks before I gave birth. Partly it was because I was feeling fine, and partly because I was worried as I read about babies having issues with withdrawls from the medication after birth.
I'm glad I was on it during the pregnancy though, mum needs to be healthy as much as the baby does!

Yes, I was (and am still on while BFing) on Loxamine while pregnant. It has less effect than other drugs or so my doctor told me. Talk to your doctor...do a bit of research on the net...I don't know a lot about it but if you need a friendly ear, you know there's at least one person who has been there

Really appreciate the support and ideas everyone. It's such a difficult decision to make. I couldn't live with myself if my baby was sick because of me, but on the other hand I can't live with debilitating panic attacks!
