Do ovulation pains happen before, during, or after ovulation?

On friday I was feeling quite bloated and crampy and by friday night the pain had increased and went from constant pain to sharp bursts of pain over a couple of hours. The next morning the pain was all gone.

do you think I could have Ov'd friday night??

Would love your thoughts or personal experience with Ov pains

TIA

From what I read on the net, it could be any of the three, which sucks for trying to figure out when it actually happened! It could be when the ovum is actually released, or from small amounts of blood/fluid leaking afterwards and irritating the abdominal lining or from spasming of the fallopian tubes and uterus... Different sites say different things though!

This month I started out having twinges on my left side, which became almost stabbing, lasting about 12 hrs. Then a day or so later it turned to lower abd cramps. Had to take painkillers yesterday for them

I reckon u could have ov'd either friday or saturday, but yeah it's really hard to know what's goin on in there w/o temping, etc.

I haven't been temping and therefore am guessing when I might have ov'd too..

Thanks Rach, didn't think it would be as simple as the day you get the pain means that day you Ov.

I'm not even 100% sure that it was ov pains, I didn't get any other ov symptons like egg CM. So perhaps it wasn't Ov?? but it was definitly down low and very simliar to period pain.
This is my first cycle since having my mirena removed, so I don't know my cycle or normal symptons yet. I thought i would leave it a cycle or two before temping, but am checking CM.

Will be interesting to see how many days after this pain I get AF

Hi Nikfra's,

One way to tell could be to use OPK's. The last time I used them I got a positive and within 24hrs got the ov pain that I get then roughly 12 days from then is when I get AF. I would just BD as much as poss while you've got the pains and the day or 2 after to cover your bases.
Hope that's helpful.
Good luck :)

Um am not sure I get them from www.baby4you.co.nz - a really good site for all sorts of fertility related stuff and really quick, discreet delivery. I'd imagine the chemist would also sell them.

Thanks babycrazy ill check out that site.

Lil_Nic9 - I think i saw EW CM sunday night. There wasn't an abundance of it and the next morning it just seemed like it had gone back to normal CM. so this would have been 2 days after the last of the ov pain stopped.

dh and i BD that night just incase

So now i guess im in my 2 week wait eekk! hope it doesn't drag.

Not holding out too much hope on getting preg first cycle. It's going to be crazy having AF again after 4.5yrs. Finger crossed it doesn't arrive though

Good luck babycrazy hope this will be your month!

I get ov pains about 2 or 3 days before I get a positive OPK and I keep having pains until a few days after the positive OPK.
I get cramps, nausea, weird pain around my CS scar and backache! My oving feels like a mix between pregnancy and AF lol.

Ive only suffered like this since having my kids! Soooo annoyin!

I've only had the noticeable pain since having DD too, never had it or noticed it beforehand and tbh I don't know if it is Ov pain, I mean it's in that area, but I am BFing and haven't had a first AF yet and am on depo and thought that may affect it?
