Hi ladies.

DD has just turned the big 1 and a few weeks before, she decided she was going to take a few jumps back in the eating game! She got sick twice the month before she turned one, once with a tummy virus for a week, then her first flu a week later! Since then she hasn't wanted to feed herself finger food, won't eat bits of fruit anymore, or lumpy stuff... has to be fairly pureed! I feel she is way behind where she should be with her eating and I can't help but worry. She doesn't eat alot, and seems to really only be happy eating yoghurt or crackers, and won't eat anything she has to really chew too much and I know this is an important part of development! She will open her mouth for food but generally just holds it in there... or gags when swallows

She's not teething at the mo so I have no idea what the issue is or how to help it... Does anyone have ANY ideas? Should I be as worried as I am?

I wouldn't stress about the development side of things.   My DD is 18months and unable to eat (she has a medical condition and is tube fed)

Her speech is way ahead of average and she has great fine motorskills. When we have trialed food in the past she has managed ok with the physical task of eating.

I'm sure this is probably just a temporary thing for you, but I wouldn't stress about her development and not eating, kids can develop fine on little or no food.

My son didn't eat ANY solids until he was a year old, due to feeding aversions, and he is waaay advanced with his talking etc. Don't worry too much about that side of things.

Thanks ladies. Her throat and ears are fine, have had them checked by doctor already Plunket seems to think it is a phase she is going through, so hopefully it doesn't last too lomg. I have to re-introuduce more lumpy/finger foods to her gradually as I did when she was a bit younger
