I was regularly having periods on the same day each month for a year and when i had my endo removed my specialist told me i had PCOS aswell and hadnt ovulated for over a year, its not that bad of an issue there are things that can be done to help you and also dont panic coz it maybe that yours is minor and u wont have to many issues getting pregnant Good luck chicka

I have PCOS on both ovaries and managed to conceive eaily with both of my pregnancies. So long as you are ovulating you shouldn't have too many problems.
I was a puree feeder, forward facing, cot sleeping, pram pushing kind of Mum... and my kids survived!

hi peanut..i also had emdo removed and was told then that i had PCOS as well. i conceived both times within the first 2weeks of trying, so it may not be a problem.

Thanks for all your messages. Have been to the Dr who was pretty casual about the whole thing!! Said that i should be fine and that when I start TTC, if I have not been successful in a year to come back. I think I will start temping just to see excatly what is going on.

< language=> Hi peanut,

I too have PCOS & been TTC for two years but i was diagnosed after I had my miscarraige ( 2 years ago) we have been TTC since & am currently on Clomiphene who knows wheather it works.

I am also due to go for a ultra sound to make sure I do have PCOS as i dont actually have cycts on my overies (well unless some have grown over the past two years) i just had some of the signs & symptoms.

A friend of mine also has PCOS & she conveived all 3 naturally the first two did take some time but the 3rd was an ooops & she was told hers was so bad she would NEVER have children (and or her 3rd she was a bit over weight)

Good luck & never say never....

hey ladies im after some advice..
can drs ie gps prescribe fertility meds or can only a specialist?? im ttc #2 and after 12mths of trying am getting frustrated my gp is a obgyn and when i explained my probs too her she said pcos then wanted to put me on the contraceptive pill! i said id rather not as nat fam planing had advised me against it as it wld disrupt things further! (kinda defeats the purpose of ttc too) thing is last december i had hormone bloods taken with my specialist(in tauranga) and a smear test.. all came back normal.. so am feeling really, really confused..my lil girl is soon to turn 2 and i really want a sibling with in a yr for her!! (only want two!)
anyways i know this is long winded so sorry! am getting all emotional now so must go.. any advice would be most helpful thanks

Hey there,

Am unsure whether a Gp can but my Gp also tried to put back on the pill! Apparently it helps with some of the symptoms but like you I was slightlyocnfused as to why i would go on the pill when I was talking about TTC shortly. I don't know if you already have but I started temping on fertiliy friend as thought I would take matters into my own hands and sort out if I was ovulating etc. Don't know if that helps at all.

I would say get a second opinion. WHen I spoke to my doctor about a year ago about irregular AF after coming of the pill, he referred me for a scan for PCOS. I had it within 6 weeks. And we weren't looking to TTC then, in fact I was having a few checks to make sure that delaying TTC fdor a year or som would be ok (I am 32 now).

I don't believe a referral for a scan is that big a deal as it wasn't for me, so I can't see why it would be for anyone else!

Hey there,

Scans don't really tell you a whole lot they only confirm PCOS and now bad but can't really tell you whether you have been ovulating etc ( may be wrong but that is my understanding). The fact you have already conceived once is good news! and means that you are ovulating sometimes, its then a matter of finding out how frequently and where in your cycle. Am not an expert as have only just be diagnosed myself but got a good booklet from my GP and searched on internet. I have now been temping for about 2 weeks but they say it takes 2 cycles to really now what is going on. About 1 in 5 NZ woman have PCOS and some may never be aware as have no issues what so ever.

Kassidysmum - I went through a specialist and got put on meds to conceive Ella. Even tho you have conceived before it doesnt mean that you are still ovulating. I had conceived before with no probs but when i had a scan i only had a sac with no baby. Then when i had my endo removed and was diagnosed with PCOS that is when i was told i wasnt ovulating so it can stop. My advice like what has been said is to do a couple of months charting on fertility friend and then that way if ur not ovulating then at least you can take your charts to your dr and have something done about it be a referal or something else.

I hope that helps chicka! And good luck

< language=> Heya,

No your GP can not perscribe fertility drugs, my GP is a Gynie but i still had to go thru Fertility Plus to get my clomophene. My Gynie did diagnose me with PCOS but that was as far as she can go she referred me to my specialist. If im not pregnant this cycle then i go for a scan & HSG (the dye thru the tubes thing) etc,etc and only a fertility specialist can put you thru IVF, IUI etc.

Hope this help clear the confusion

hey guys im back for some more much needed advice:)

last mths af didnt arrive although i had ewh cm 3 times during the mth and some much unwanted discomfort during this time to the extent i was sure i was pg and when tested was neg.. does that sound like my bodys trying to ovulate but not have much success?? now this mth i have the same ewh cm and am bleeding also.. not heavy just enough to stain and small amts when i wipe.. am not sure if this is normal ive only had it once before and that was shortly after i had stopped bf my dd and thought it was my body trying to sort itself out!! am getting quite confused now:( i think im going to have to try a diff Gp as mine seems to be passing the buck or so to speak.. (after 13mths of ttc #2)

< language=> well i do have PCOS my scan showed 12 on each overie!! am trying to get the dang fertility clinic to give me an earlier appointment as im supposed to be seen 3 monthly (and im now into my 4th) they do have an appointment set up in Dec but i wont be able to make it as im going up to full-time work & it means me having to take a whole day off which i cant really afford to do not to mention that as im covering maternity leave they are not temporiily replacing me & im the filler innner!! had a strange cycle last time i didnt ovulate but i had what i thought was AF for 4 days but it was very lite & short (im normally 7 days med-heavy)

Kassidy's mum - i have at least 3 patches of ECM in a space of about 2 weeks. Sounds like you may need to change Drs im considering doing that as I dont like ow the fertility clinic is mucking me round.... I totally hear you on the passing the buck thing I feel the same ATM (and we have been TTC for 26 months)
