Topic: Fatter fingers post pregnancy?? Posted: 27 June 2010 at 7:47pm |
I took my wedding and engagement rings off around 26 weeks pregnant when my fingers swelled with the heat and haven't been able to get them back on and DS is now 13mths old!
Admittedly I am not quite back to pre pregnancy weight but only have another 3kgs to go so surely it can't be that! I can't get them past my knuckle! Anyone else have this problem?? I really don't want to have to get them resized

No help here.
3kg, there's no way that's worth a resize. I can't imagine how your knuckle could have grown.
Me, I've got wedge fingers, so if the rings not tight it falls off.

I did..
But I will say that prepreg I was 75kg and when I got back to that weight I was not the same size. It wasn't until I got to 70 that my rings fitted the same. I never had to take them off but they did get rather tight

i had taken mine off during the summer (had a lot of fluid as well as swelling due to the heat), I am back at my pre preg weight but my rings dont quite fit... Ive managed to get 1 on (i gave 2 wedding and 1 engagement rings) but its too tight to come off again!

Interesting topic, my rings got to tight about 33 weeks so I changed them to a smaller finger. Been back to pre preg for ages now but my fingers are still quite chunky, i.e not as boney looking as before. Rings still don't fit on their old fingers!

When first DD was born I had PE so my fingers were HUGE! But only a week after she was born they were back to normal and my rings went back on no probs.
With second DD though I only had mild swelling in my fingers (no PE) but took my rings off for the last trimester anyway. It was almost 2 months post-birth before I could get my rings to get past my knuckles again, and even now at 4.5 months my wedding band still struggles to get over the knuckle. My fingers are back to normal but yeah my knuckles seem bigger
ETA to add that I'm not quite back to pre-preg weight either - still up 3kg too!.

Me three. I got mine resized when Dan was 6 months cos I was missing my rings! My fingers have gone down a bit but not much (just like my feet) so I'm glad I got them resized.

I took my rings off when I was pg with Jack and finally got them resized a few months ago (2.5+yrs on) so that now I can wear them. I am actually slightly lighter than my pre-Jack weight and still couldn't wear wedding and engagement rings together comfortably although could wear just one. I just assume that your body may be the same weight as before but not in the same places

I had to get my engagement ring re-sized cause it wouldn't go over my knuckle. I took it off when I was 20 weeks. My fingers didn't look fatter but apparently they were. I put on 25kg when preg but lost it all in th first 12wks and am now below pre preg weight and other rings I have (but no longer wear) still wont fit. I also don't fit any of my shoes anymore! They are all too tight, but my feet look the same as they used to....... strange! My MW told me that it's quite common for hands and feet to change shape whilst pregnant and not go back to normal.

Yep -here too.
On a good day I can get them on, but they are still not a great fit. This happened after my first pregnancy (4 years ago!), and by the time I got around to getting them resized again I was pregnant again, so I thought I had better wait to see if they grew again. Luckily, they didn't.
So still on the 'to do' list!
I'm similar to you though - at 3kg+ I couldn't get them on. Now same weight as prepregnancy they fit, but only just. That finger fat must be the last to be lost LOL.

Oh my feet are slightly bigger too. Like misscheeky it's good for me because I was also a size 4-5 before, but now I can fit 5-6. The downside though is all the cute little shoes I got from the UK are now too tight, plus I have no money to buy new shoes

Unfortunately for me I was a size 9 shoe to start with... so now size 10 lol. But I have skinny legs so I look like I have clown feet! It's amazing the difference one size bigger makes! lol

Uuuurgh, my fingers used to be stiff and sore in the mornings, they hurt so bad, and I couldn't bend them for a while. My feet did swell up but not as painful as my hands. I still can't fit the rings I had, and now Im pregnant again, my engagement ring was brought a bigger size in case I had the same problem
