Topic: Something up nose Posted: 06 August 2006 at 8:13am |
Hannah has something stuck up her nose. WTF!?!?
It's something white and is quite far up... do I just leave it there and hope it works itself out, or should I go see a doctor??

I would go see a doctor just incase it keeps travelling up when she sniffs. If things are small enough it could travel somewhere dangerous. Do you know what it is?

Reminds me of when I was little, I used to roll up toilet paper into teeny tiny balls and shove them up there... NO idea why ! LOL Good luck with the search and rescue mission.

lol lissy used to be a shove stuff up nose child so ive had lots of experience lol (apparently bright children do it lol i think they were just trying to make me feel better) How we got the stuff out was to put pepper on her nose then to close the nostral that was clear and when she sneezed the stuff would come down and out.
If you cant get it out go to the doc as it can get infected and smelly (gross). But she will need a sedation to get it out if you cant.

Poor Nikki! And poor Hannah! But I'm with everyone else - get it checked. On the bright side, if she has to have it yanked out it might put her off doing it again!

reminds me of a funny story...
uncle and his young son were staying with us (when i was a little girl)... little boy says its stuck, whats stuck, its stuck up my nose. uncle panics and starts trying to see up nose and get him to blow it out, boy is getting upset too and going on about "it" being stuck up his nose... uncle trying desperately to get him to blow "it" out his nose.... well, you'll never guess what the little boy had stuck up his nose.... a booger... blew it right into his dads hand...
i'm laughing just thinking about it... not helpful i know but hope you have a good ending to your nose saga too.

We went to a birthday party this morning and I mentioned it to the mothers there. Luckily one of them happened to be a doctor and then the lady whose house it was happened to have a whole lot of medical instruments, like very long slim rounded tweezers.
So anyway, recruited the help of the doctor and Hannah lay down very calmly and she removed a sizeable hunk of.... polystyrene!!! (sp?)
She's been playing with my sister's models for her design papers. Argghhhhhh.
I think it was too big to actually go anywhere past her nostril, but the doctor said exactly what you did Maria, that it would have got infected if it had stayed there longer. So yay for the nice resolution! Atleast I know the consequences if it happens again!

Hey, I'm not sure how true this is, but if you swallow polystyrene, doesn't it swell? You'll have to tell your sister off (your turn to be bossy big sis) for leaving her stuff around )and it still counts if Hannah climbed a chair to get at it!)

Yeah, I don't think having polystyrene up the nose is that flash.
And Hannah has worked out how to open all the doors in our house and to also pull down the baby gate. I think we have to establish a more sturdy toddler-banning system. I would ordinarily tell Jute off, but seeing as it was in her own room and it probably happened while I was ignoring Hannah and posting on here I can't really blame her!

lol we had to make a trip to the docs a few weeks ago as x had put a sticker up her nose, i tried getting it out but couldnt as it was right up there! i was fuming when we got there, lucky they could see us straight away, but the doctor was hot so that made it better
i will still take a sticker over polystyrene balls anyday! that would scare me a bit i think.
