Sick Baby

Isabella is a very sick little girl :( We have been to the Dr's 3 days in a row!

She started getting sick Monday night, coughing, then Tuesday she was really unwell, glassy eyed, coughing, temp of 38.5 etc so went to the Dr, he said its viral and her ears are fine, her throat a bit red, and to give her pamol.
She got worse over night, i was up with her most of it, by mornign she had lost her voice and could hardly even cry :(
She was also flinching when trying to swallow her food(just runny baby cereal).

Called the nurse and told hima nd he said bring her back in, so I saw my family Dr yesterday, her temp was boarderline 38 her throat red but her ears fine, was told iagain its viral and to give pamol and nurofen.

last night she started weezing, so i gave her some of Cadens ventolin and that seemed to help a bit, again I was up with her most of the night, and this morning she was really weezing in her sleep, so I got her up and she was sucking in at the ribs etc and really struggling to get a good breath, so called the dr they said bring her in.

Her breathing was fine by the time I got there, so I felt like a fraud! but he gave us some ventolin and a spacer for her.
He checked her over, her ears are a bit pink, her throat is fairly red and her voice is still pretty much gone :( her temp was 38, but still he said its viral and he said there is nothing that suggests infection so Antibiotics wont help.

Surely if she has lost her voice and her throat is red and her temps are high then it could be an infection that antibiotics could help??

I feel like Im going mental and I feel so bad for Bella!! She tries to babble but a pitterful squeak comes out(kinda cute tho lol)

I think shes old enough now for the normal liquid Antibiotics, she's 8 months :)

I could try A&E but the wait there is insane and if they told me the same thing Id probably have a near melt down lol

I'd go to A&E too as it sounds like shes getting worse not better and being phobbed off wouldn't be good enough for me

Just wanted to add that there is also that health care line that you can ring...they might be able to make a suggestion? 0800 611 116

Don't get me wrong with my A&E dislike, because I know what it is like to not 'trust' your Drs opinion, I ended up in hospital from my Drs bad judgement and wish I had gone for a second opinion at a different Drs...I actually rang a healthline and they said I needed immediate help lol!

Shes not long woken from her nap and she is actually a lot brighter, and her temp is down to 36.5 yay! So *hopefully* she is coming right now, fingers crossed.

If she gets bad again later on and she wont respond to the ventolin or her temp is really high again, and our local Dr's after hours are shut, then Ill be going to A&E for sure, Im not taking any chances.

We live an hour away from kids first hospital, even the A&E is 30mins drive for us :(

Yeah, thats why I would say go for another opinion Mel...at least if the GP is wrong then another GP should pick up on it. A medical clinic is a good option for second opinion coz you can usually get into those without appointments.

Healthlines are also good for asking things that sometimes you feel like the Dr is rushing you ya know...or you don't feel like he is listening.....I don't think they are quite so under the pump to push you through..and they are 24/7. PLUS if they say you should be having this treatment or that treatment you know that and can feel more confident when seeing dr IYKWIM.

Good that she is looking a bit better and hope she has a good night.

Hope I didn't sound too mean...just thought there might be other options other than A&E....
