PROTECT OUR CHILDREN OF NZ!!! Copy and Paste this if you believe NZ needs to go hand in hand with America in making a stand by putting parents away when they selfishly don't immunize there children. Our children are inocent and need our help in living a full and abundant lives! Lets, New Zealand, join hands, make a stand, and not let the selfishness of parents get away with murder!

Saw this on FB and wondered if anyone else had seen it? Does anyone know what stand America has taken?
I can't say I agree with it and in fact I think its an extreme, over-the-top post but am curious about what exactly they're trying to achieve. Is it jail-term??

ETA I just copied and pasted lol I take no responsibility for the awful spelling!!

No haven't seen it. Looks like they mean a jail term.

What a crock though, you can't make people make decisions like that, it's informed choice.

Don't know what america has done.

I hadn't seen that, but AFAIK (I just did some research for a paper), in the US you can be excused from vaccination on religious or ethical grounds, and although most schools require kids to be fully immunised, there are 'dispensations' that can be applied for. It sounds very OTT (even for the US) to jail parents for not immunising!

Ok, just did a search and this came up.....albeit from 3 years ago, but looks like what it may have been talking about?

ETA: once again, I'm so glad to live in a coutry where we have the ability to actually make informed decisions (even though I support vaccination on principle)

I agree Babe it does seem extreme. I haven't seen it and think that surely America can't be that over-the-top?

Totally agree with Blondy about being lucky to live in a country where we can make our own decisions about these things.

Don't some daycares here require kids to be immunised? Just wondering as I think I got told it once when we were doing Alex as we didn't to the Prevanar vaccine.

Re Daycare's - I think they prefer kids who are immunised but cant not take them they just make sure if something is going around that they advise the unimmunized kids parents to keep them home. Same with schools.

So if immunisation is compulsary in the states have they eliminated the virus's everyone is immunised against?

Whoa thanks for the link Blondy thats... well its abit freaky I reckon! I don't have a big issue with imms I've just chosen to wait til the boys were older before doing them. I have a major problem with anyone messing with my job as a parent though.
I'm also abit fazed by parents who would actually support sending other parents to jail and put together a copy and paste like that - 'selfish'?? 'murder'?? C'mon show a little restraint and commonsense!! Anyway glad I don't live in the States...

I would take posts on FB with a grain of salt - most of them are there to stir up controversy - wouldn't gurantee any of it is accurate.

In Australia, it's not compulsory to immunise your children, but you get a "Maternity Immunisation Rebate" of roughly $120 when your child is 1 and 4 years if you have completed their immunisations, and they can't go to childcare/school unless they've been immunised. You can apply for an exemption on religious/ethical grounds, but they don't make the process easy.

what does AFAIK mean?

No daycares here do not require children to be immunised they just require to know whether or not they are and it's the same with schools.

I read that article and it just makes me glad that I don't live in the states. Land of the free, my arse, more like the land of do what we say or go to jail.

ETA, punctuation as it read land of the free my arse, like they are trying to free my arse...lol
