Topic: Under 3 sessional care?? Posted: 10 April 2010 at 11:20am |
I know this isnt the right thread, but Im desperate and Im really hoping some one can help with this..
My almost 2 year old is desperate to not hang with Mum all the time but I cant find her care for 2 afternoons a week - I would prefer daycare type situation as opposed to in home care for some socialisation and variety
Any ideas - is this even available? Im in birkdale at the moment

I can't help specifically with Auckland but when Jake started daycare down here (he was 18 months) he was able to do half-days. I wanted daycare for the variety too and its been absolutely brilliant.
Anyway if you're asking what I *think* you're asking (and I may be wrong coz I have terrible baby brain!!!) then all the daycares I know of are fine with you enrolling your child for whatever hours suit as long as they're available which is probably your biggest obstacle.
If this is totally off-base and no help then ignore me

Thanks Babe, I think that will be my problem too and congrats on the new lovely boy :).
Im just finding all the daycares I can within say 15 minutes drive, and sending them an email to see where I stand.
In addition .. does anyone know any centres that are best avoided - Id rather not leave my precious girl with crazy people
Thanks

RJ - the North Shore has a number of Community Creches. I wish this was available in my area as it's really affordable and you can drop them off and have some time to yourself. My friend's children love it there.
I know there is one in Birkenhead but when I did a search - lots of other areas too if I recall correctly. The creche you drop them off for a few hours - either a morning or an afternoon - her kids are in quite a few times a week - and they expect you to be a parent help so many times a year.
If you're interested and you can't find out more info on it, let me know and I'll find it and post it on here.

if all else fails i will put her back in in home care but she really enjoys being around lots of kids - its a shame we cant go to mainly music everyday for a few hours

Sorry am in Helensville so not much help
I did walk past a daycare centre this morning and the notice on their window said minimum of 2 sessions per week- i think that's pretty standard (1 session= morning or afternoon, not a whole day)

thats kind of what I need just now 2 or 3 sessions a week, I just want to ease her into it. She is so over hanging out with me all the time
I wonder if the centres around here are all full too, there seems to be loads of kids about and they may not have any interest in a part timer, especially one under 2 or even 2
Do kindergartens even take under 3's? It dosent appear that daycares do sessional normally?

Yes kindys take under 3's. My girl started at 2.5 years although it is a private one and I have had her name down since she was born.

I am now looking at kindy for DD she will be 2 in September. I have rang one called ABC learning that take them at 2. It is $24 a day and it is from 8.30-2.30 which works well in school hours and probably do 1 or 2 days a week. Does anyone know what ABC is like now after they went broke???

Yes kindys do have part time hours. DD goes two days per week , one day is 8:45 - 11:45 and the other is 8:45 - 1pm. It suits me perfectly, gives her the extra stimulation she needs and gives me time to myself to catch up on things!
