Hi,
Amazingly since joining daycare this is the first time we've had this.
And it just came on today he was off yesterday but today yellowly sticky eyes and a bit red.
I will take him to the Dr on monday, but curious about whether they do anything and is there anything I can do or does it just go away.
do you find bubbas get sick with it, or just annoyed?
will this mean daycare won't take him on monday?

Depends on the daycare. We've been off a week and it blardy better go by Monday cos I need to have at least 1 day back at work before the holidays.
Daniel got sent home last Monday with it. He's been having cold tea dropped into his eyes and antibacterial cream. The Dr said it was probably viral so medication wasn't really needed. Dan has other viral symptoms so it's the combination of everything that's made him a bit (lot) grumpy.
I'd suggest you pop into your pharmacy and see what they can give you over the counter.

TBH it will go away by itself in about a week whether you use drops or not. So no, there's probably no point getting anything for it. Obviously you need to try avoid spreading it to any of the rest of the family (by not sharing towels, washing hands religiously etc). If it isn't getting better after a week or it starts to get worse, then you probably need to take them to the dr or an optometrist to rule out any nasties.
Most daycares won't take them till all the discharge is gone (just because it's so contagious).

LOL Bizzy, that was the first thing that came to mind when we got the call from daycare. If only I'd had some still in the freezer!

Ok, well we got drops just in case, he's gone from no symptoms to both eyes being so sticky its yuck.
I was only working 2 days this week anyway and he is pretty grumpy, although think that is more to do with cutting molars, but day or two extra at home would probably be good for him.
No breastmilk option, Ihave heard before that is very good

what she said  ..there is a saying that it will clear up in a week with antibiotics and 7 days if left alone I personally just use clean muslin wipes in warm water to just wipe the outside of the lids to remove the crusties. Kids arent bothered by it like we are....and yes...most of the time its viral

Saline water works very well.
Dissolve 1 tsp of salt in half a liter of water and let it cool down. Wipe the eyes (new tissue for each eye). Mika's conjunctivitis was gone in a day.

How do you tell if its viral? Gabrielle has had it in both eyes last week and seems to be gettting it back again today. Her eyes were so bad last week they were swollen almost shut but came right in about 3 days with drops. Must try the saline thing this time - beats going to the doc and then the chemist.
