It appears my DS 16mths gets car sick but only really when he is teething or unwell with a cold, we can get about 10/15mins from home and he power chucks for miles. I'm getting well sick of having to wash the car seat, plus the disapointment of missing out on things cos he's been sick EVERYWHERE so we have to turn around and go home to clean up.

Of course I really feel for him and in no way is my frustration directed at him, he cant help it!!! But its starting to really get me down.

Do you think its worth asking the Dr about it or is it just something I have to hope he'll grow out of? He was never a spilly baby at all so I dont know where this has come from but in the past couple of months every time we've tried to go further than 15mins in the car he's been sick. I wait at least an hour since he's eaten before travelling but that made no difference this morning, 1hr 45mins after breakfast he managed to make it about 25mins before 2 weetbix plus 200mls of milk came projectiling back.

I wonder if the pressure of the car seat straps pulling down on his shoulders is compressing his tummy so as soon as he does a proper cough he barfs everywhere. I should check to see if they can be adjusted perhaps (maxi cosi tobi).

Anyone with car sick kiddies have any advice on being able to actually leave the suburb without vomitting????

I have a toddler that suffers from carsickness! It is not fun!

Just carry towels with you and spare clothes lol!

I find that she is better in some cars than others, eg she is fine in my car as she sits high and can see out the windows, yet in DH's car she gets sick because she sits so low and cant see much. He has a 2003 Commodore and I have a 2006 Ford Teritory. We hardly ever use his car for outings because of her carsickness.

I was allowed to poke a finger in his mouth this afternoon and his second molar has broken the surface, the last bout of sickness we had coincided with his first molar - do you think there is any weight to the theory that his car sickness and teething could be related?? We've had a couple of short journey's between the two molar's that were okay, but there were only local trips so dunno if they really tested him.

I guess if its an important journey where turning around and coming home isnt an option (like going to see Father Christmas and Thomas the Tank Engine next weekend) then we'll need to line the car seat with rubbish bags and put him in a rain coat lol
