Hello my name is Kay
My husband and I have just moved to Orakei and have discovered we are pregnant. We have signed up with a local GP and been for our first scan (8weeks pregnant today!) which was very exciting.
We now have the task of choosing a Midwife! We dont have any friends in the area who have had children recently and so I wondered if anyone on OHbaby could help or point us in the right direction.
If you can reccommend a midwife near Orakei or within Auckland even that would be great.

Hiya and welcome to OB

My midwife was in GI which is relatively close to Orakei .. I used to travel from Parnell to see her as she came so highly recommended.

I think she has now delivered numerous OB babies!

Her name is Yvonne Daji and she is at Pregnancy Care Midwives 5212172
Mummy to Issy (3) and Elias (18 months)

I am with Hilary Eason and she is great - she is based in GI which is quite close to you. She is with a group of 4 MWs and you get to meet all of them over time just in case she is with another birth/just finished one, when you are ready.

Oh just read lilfattys post - Yvonne is in the group of MWs with Hilary. She is so lovely!

This is the website for the midwifery registry on the NZ midwifery council:http://www.midwiferycouncil.org.nz/main/register/
You can search through every midwife in your area or NZ, see their qualifications and check they haven't ever been in trouble for misconduct and check they have an anual preactise cert.
This is the best place you can look as all NZ midwifes are on it.

Yvonne was my midwife too, she delivered all 4 of my girls and I her. Hilary was the back up midwife there when the gremlins were born (you have to have two midwives present at a twin birth) and I saw her a few times while I was preg with lil miss too and she is lovely as well.

Yvonne was my mw with both babies (thanks Emma ), she's lovely and Hilary is too.

Alison Wormald is my midwife-she is also a midwife at Pregnancy care midwives in GI with Yvonne & Hilary. I can highly recommend her. In fact I have met all three of them (they are backup for eachother when one is away) & they were all great!
