I know there are already swimwear threads on here but they are all from last year or even before.

So i was wondering who has got swimwear, where from, how much did it cost, and how long has it covered your bump for. I am about 23 weeks and have a sizeable bump already so am looking for something that will cover my bump for a while at least, preferably until bubs is born in feb as i am expecting i'll be wanting to be in the water as much as possible this summer.

also does anyone do swimming out south auckland/franklin? i was thinking of starting swimming at the puke pools but don't know anyone to go with, or if they have special classes for pregnant ladies.

I didnt do special classes, just my normal swimming class.

I just wore a suit from the warehouse, pretty cheap and it stretched over my bump right up till 40+ weeks.

Check out pumpkin patch and just kids maternity, they usually have them. And even better, try dressmart or somewhere where you can get last season's ones even cheaper I picked up a pair from jk with Bethany that only cost me $25.

As for swimming, I'm out south too but I don't know about pools (we've only moved recently). I'm guessing the Papakura pools prob have something, and you may find that Puke does too. Just give them a call and see what they say :) If you do hear of any out this way, do let me know. Happy hunting!

im a learn-to-swim teacher and i bought maternity swimwear off TM. will prolly get a pair from the warehouse as well coz most of them have good stretch factor.

so i have a couple of one pieces and just wear some quick dry exercise shorts. (not bike shorts... kinda like quick dry canterbury shorts)

tankinis would be a good idea too... but ones that you can mix and match with so that you can get a size up in the top?

I just wore a tankini that I already had to my aquanatal classes. It stretched over most of my bump. Some of the girls in the class (incl a friend) wore bikinis. I suppose it is just what you feel comfortable in

I got a swimsuit from JK - a tankini, I think it was $30? I wore it up till 30w (I was measuring 40w at the time). Being in the water was the only place I felt comfortable (and weightless).

I got mine from JK over christmas for $30 but I found it a bit uncomfortable tbh.... Kmart have some mat swimwear at the moment ( I was looking because i like the lenght of the tops) but they are quite bright but also have support in the top for those heavy mumma boobies. There were a couple of tankini's with support actually that would work.

OK i think just a normal tankini in a larger size may be the way to go, with some shorts lol.

I have rang up the Franklin swim, sport and fitness center (puke pools) and they don't have specific pregnancy classes but do have aqua aerobics on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning at 9.30am and on a Tuesday and Thursday at 6.15pm. the cost is $10 per class and it is just casual you don't need to sign up or anything.
the receptionist just said to go a bit earlier and let the instructor know that I/you are pregnant so that if there is any high impact stuff she can suggest something a bit easier.

Massey Park Aquatic Centre in papakura do ' 'preggy aqua' it is on Tuesday 12.30pm and Thursday 6.30pm. prices are $25.00 for a 5 vist concession $45.00 for a 10 visit concession.

i think the benefit of the massey park classes would be that everyone in the class is pregnant as well and it would make me feel a bit less self concious of what my body looks like.

hopefully DP can get his car fixed this weekend so i can have mine back, and maybe next week i can be a brave girl and actually go to one of these lol.

I've given up covering up my bump. I usually wore a sports two piece but converted to a one piece when I started getting a bump. Found it too uncomfortable (as I do swim training) so have thrown my dignity out the window and am now wearing my two piece again. It feels soooo much better not having things squashed in...... and also don't have to buy bigger togs every few weeks...lol. I get a few stares but hey......I've got nothing to hide, only something to show off....lol.
