How often does your baby see Plunket?

Here in Brisbane there isnt Plunket as such however there is a service here where you go to a Community Health Centre and you can see a Child Health Nurse and they do pretty much the same as Plunket. I have taken Jackson once to see the Child Health Nurse to 'enrol' and we dont need to see her again his 4 month check up and then other milestone dates but if we need we can see them any time in between and as often as we like.

I want Jackson to be seen regularly so I know he is thriving or otherwise and to also make sure he's developing as he should and for me to be able to discuss any issues or concerns etc.

So my question is how often do you take your baby for check up's with Plunket? And what is normally discussed and checked aside from weight and length of your baby?

Sebastian is 6 weeks old and we've seen the Plunket nurse twice so far. Wednesday the week before last and Friday this past week. His next appointment is in 4 weeks time, but the nurse assured me she was only a phone call away if needed.

Its about the same Rianna... as megansmum said and you can see them or your GP in between if you have concerns.

If they feel Jackson isnt developing they will ask you to come back in more regularily (I spent a lot of time visiting the child health nurse as a bubba, much like Jake spends a lot of time visiting the plunket nurse).

Plunket ask at each visit if what they are doing (do they turn to loud noises, to look at things, are they picking toys up, are the making sounds etc) and ask you if you have any concerns or questions.

It should be fairly similiar at the community health centre, but dont be suprised if you dont like the advice they give you. Plunket are very regimented in their advice and I expect the comm health cent will be the same.

Our plunket nurse said that they actually only have funding for 8 visits, which are at times where milestones should be happening. We had our first visit last week at 7 weeks, then will see them again in another 2 weeks or so, then 3 months, then 6 months, then 12 months. We may get a few more visits, but only because they're twins and also premmies. We can go into the Plunket house at any stage though, or talk to our GP if we have any worries. We like to keep an eye on their weight as well, just because they are still very small (still not 8lb at 8 weeks old).

Hmm we've seen Plunket heaps I think! Looking at the book, we saw them at 5wks, 7wks, 2.5months, 3.5months, 4.5months, 5.5months, and 7months. Was meant to go yesterday as well but once we got there they decided it was too early so changed it till another month. Wonder why that is?!

Yeah we were the same with people asking his weight as well. I take Jackson to the Community Centre and use the self weigh room. Ive done this since he was 3 weeks old and I can take his clothes off for a naked weight which is great. I try to weigh him at least once a fortnight.

Yep Rach the jabs go by calendar month here with their first at 2 months. Well second really as he had Hep B at birth. Dh will be taking him, I dont like it and get more upset than Jackson
