Topic: Night routines? Posted: 22 September 2009 at 12:52pm |
Out of interest what are your night routines? Just wondering if I'm on the right track for our 9wk old.
Ours is bath, massage and feed at 8pm in bed by 9pm
Dreamfeed 11-11.30pm, then DH wakes at around 4 for a feed and around 6.30 then normally she feeds every 2 -2 1/2 hours though out the day.
What does everyone else do?

Our night time routine at that age was; usually a feed around 5-5.30pm, playtime with Daddy bath at 6pm followed by a story then top up BF and into bed between 6.30-7pm. He then woke around 10pm for BF or if he didn't I woke him and feed him before I went to bed.

four eyes - I have never had enough milk - long story but had car accident, so she gets breast & bottle. she is a very frequent feeder in the day, we have tried to stretch it out, but always ends up back at 2-3hrs

At 9 weeks DDs routine was
6pm bath
630pm feed
7pm bed
She was sleeping until 7am then but before she was we would also have:
10pm dreamfeed
4am feed
DD was feeding every 1-2hours most of the time when she was sleeping through the night

fair enough i just asked cause bottle fed babies seem to be able to go a little longer.....
we used to feed E when he woke about 10 (so not really a dream feed) and then when he woke in night too so i guess we didnt really have a routine as such just went with his needs..

No routine here except the sleep, feed, play routine. and during the day I try to go three hourly but if she's hungry earlier then that well she's hungry.
The only night time ritual we do is we change her clothes to another set like pj type aio and feed and change nappy regardless as I don't change her during the night if she falls asleep while feeding or is drowsy.

Ours was about the same but about an hour earlier. Sometimes he would go to sleep others he would be up until his next feed. Jakes reflux was peaking around then so it was constant feeding until sleep. we tried to get him down after bath but no luck. At 3 months he started passing out about 6.30pm and dropped the 10m feed then a few weeks later dropped the 2am feed. Now he is asleep by 7pm and just wakes once between 3am-5am.

At 9weeks Sirius would:
Bath at 5
Cluster feed on/off from 5:30-8:30
Usually asleep by 9:00-9:15
We could never do the dream feed until he was about 5months, he just wouldn't drink .
He would wake at about 2am for a feed and then 5am.

Ours is:
try and make it to 5.30 as he hasnt slept all day- then bath, then bottle, then try and burp which is really hard as he has fallen asleep already..... then bed. Then up for feed at 6am. We cant wake him- he is a zombie.
Locks what we call a 'stayer'.... he has some serious stamina and will power.
My point is I guess- We dont have much of a routine.
Yours sounds great.

Jake had a feed about 5.30/6, bath, then feed and in bed by 7pm at the latest, dreamfeed about 10.30/11pm. He feed about 3 hourly during the day. Morgan does her own thing but usually its a early evening nap then feed about 6pm, play then bath then feed (sometimes another play and top up) then in bed about 8/8.30 (but it can be anywhere from 7-9pm). No dreamfeed as she won't take it and the night we made her she woke in the night. She sleeps from bedtime til 5.30am, then back to sleep for an hour or two. Usually feeds 2 hourly during the day with one bigger block of about 4 hours if she has a long nap.

We feed one side, then bath, then PJs and gogo bag, then feed other side in her room with dim light and mobile music. Tried giving her the bottle but she won't take it but she is sleeping longer now, usually 8-4 and then another 2 hours.
