Topic: My brain doesnt work Posted: 20 February 2009 at 4:31pm |
My mum jokes that you can't use your womb and your brain at the same time. Unfortunately it appears to be too true.
- I had a hospital appt a couple of weeks ago and was nearly at the hospital when I read my appointment letter and realised I was on my way to the wrong hospital.
- The next day I had to run some errands so I grabbed my cell phone, wallet and daughter and left. The door locked behind me and it wasn't until I got to the car I realised my keys were still inside.
- Yesterday I printed a letter on letterhead but the paper had been loaded worng (not by me) and so the print was upsidedown. I reloaded the paper correctly and reprinted and one of my colleagues handed the print to me, but they handed it to me upsidedown so I started ranting that it had printed wrong again - except I was just looking at it the wrong way up.
- I was at my midwife this afternoon for a routine appointment and she was going through my scan results. She said the baby's head measurement was 17cms and I started freaking out. It took her several minutes to figure out I was thinking 17cms across rather than 17cms circumference.
Please list your preggy brain moments so I don't feel quite so stupid.

haha Jo
I reversed out my parents drive, then wondered why it was going so slowly up the hill.
Would have helped if the engine was on and I didnt just have the hand brake off .
there are more , i'll have to try and remember them ...

bahaha Jo You make me giggle
I had a few silly small preggy-brain moments, like looking for my glasses and getting pissy when I couldn't find them (they were on my head).
Or putting things in the freezer that should've gone in the pantry (or vice versa!! Ice cream in the pantry...not good!!).
My biggest oopsie was turning up to work, not once, but THREE times!!) on days off

I was doing a handful of dishes yesterday by hand and could hear water going down the drain, checked the plug was in properly - yup, so emptied the sink, made sure there was nothing stuck and tried again - same result - took me a minute to realise that I had the dishwasher on at the same time and it was that water emptying I could hear

I think you mean circumference not diameter? Was that your preggy brain again?
I have been having some wacky ones recently. Last night DH and I went to do the grocery shopping by ourselves (it was kinda fun!). I had the list and he had the trolley. He kept asking me where to go next, etc, and I would just read the list over and over and really couldn't connect how to figure out what next! And that was at 8.30pm lol
Today I prepared some documents to be filed in Court (a daily occurrence for me). I had them all ready to go in the next office, then remembered something that needed to be relayed to Court staff with them. Only I forgot that I hadn't actually delivered them to Court yet - so I rang the Court to see who was taking on that file but of course they didn't have anything about it yet! *rolls eyes at self* A least I brightened up someone's day!!

I wanted to defrost some steak for DH to have for tomorrow night's dinner, and do it in the fridge instead of leaving it out on the bench (covered)... but went to put it in the pantry instead Luckily I had a friend over at the time who pointed it out to me!
There have been heaps more but I'll come back when I think of them

Where do I start?
Can't remember conversations I've had with people, and end up having them over and over again.
Can't remember phone numbers. Include own phone number. Particularly embarassing at Vodafone store when had complete blank and had to ring a diff phone to see what came up on caller id. I have to add that I've had the same number for years!
And then there is all that general emotional/hormonal/overtired stuff... most recent was when waiting in line to use a public toilet, a woman with small boy came up and asked if he could go first. I have been holding on for so long by then that I could barely walk, so snapped at her.."I am 7 months pregnant and dying to pee!". Oops. Luckily she was very understanding!!!

LOL these are soo funny!!!!
One of mine:
We lock our doors at night, so in the morning, I went to the back door, unlocked it, went out to do something, dont remember what now, then tried to come in the front door. It sticks sometimes after its been raining, so I thought it was doing that, and was kicking it and kicking it...... then realised it was locked and Id got outside via the back door.
Im glad I didnt have to explain a broken kicked in door to DP!
There are many more Im sure.

tee hee hee ... I've done the standard ringing to talk to one friend and wondering why another answered (of course I'd rung the wrong number!). But DH had a good one the other day (and he's blaming pregnancy) ... we were on our way out in the car, he was last out of the house and just as we were pulling into the street had a sudden thought of "I've closed the screen door but not actually the front door" ... silly man!

This isn't me but my 20 week pregnant friend made me laugh today with this gem
She parked in Willis ST, and on returning to the car took DS out of buggy and put him in car, etc etc etc
She only realised three days later when they couldn't find it, that she didn't actually put the buggy in the car before driving off

We've just moved, so I rang the power company to give them the reading and disconnect the line. It took the call center worker 15 min trying to find me on the system before I realised I rang the wrong company.
A few day's earlier I wrote a letter for my landlord to sign to confirm the least ending early, and I wrote the lease "commences" instead of "terminates" and didn't realise till he pointed it out to me rather confused

I couldn't figure out why my plate was looking so empty at the dinner table and everyone else had so much on theirs...thought I must be imagining it and started eating...only to realise a couple of minutes later that my steak was still sitting by itself on the serving plate.
