Do you play music to your baby in utero? Is there a song in particular that is your baby's song? Or maybe a selection of songs?

Inadvertantly Bon Jovi is Michaela's settle down music

Last time I didn't specifically play anything for Michaela, I just played whatever I felt like listening to.  I used to drive alot and because my radio in my last car was terrible and I didn't have a cd player I just played tapes.  I would blast my Best of Bon Jovi during most car trips.

When Michaela was a few months old we were at the petrol station and she was in her carseat grizzling while we waited for DH to pay so we could leave.  There was nothing I could do to settle her until the car started moving so to drown out the noise I turned the stereo on and put in my Bon Jovi tape and she immediately stopped grizzling and settled down.  Even now Bon Jovi settles her when she feels overtired and grizzly.

This time I'd like to choose a particular song for my son to listen to in the womb that I can play to settle him when needed (as much as I like Bon Jovi I'm not sure much of the lyrics are appropriate lol).

DH suggested UB40 but needs to be something I don't mind constantly listening to aswell.  I've been playing him "Hey there Delilah".

I used to sing along with that flybuys commercial (dream a little dream) when I was pg with Issy and because it used to get stuck in my brain I used to sing it quite often at random times like in the shower.

When she came into the real world, whenever she was upset I could sing that song to her and she would quieten down (it still works to this day .. and she always stops whatever she is doing when that commerical comes on and looks at me and smiles)

That's so cute!  DH used to sing "I talk to the trees" to Michaela (Clint Eastwood sings it in Paint Your Wagon), I might play it for her and see what she thinks - this morning she told me that the Salvador Dali in my bedroom was painted by DH lol.

I sing these lyrics in a random made up tune most mornings around 2am.......

"be quiet please bubby, mummy is going insane and is going to cry soon, love you lots but you so noisy"

She seems to like it and so far doesn't mind my terrible singing voice LOL.

Ben Harper! Erin still loves to groove along to just about anything by him - though when she was still in utero she particularly liked Diamonds on the Inside :)

Not sure about this bub yet, haven't been playing anything in particular to it but we'll see if it displays any preference later on!

JJ gets a lot of Blur, Tender - oh my baby, oh my baby, oh why, oh my... come on come on come on, get through it/love's the greatest thing that we have etc. Makes a good lullaby and doesn't stretch my limited vocal range!

I played lots of Bernard Fanning and Foo Fighters in the car when he was in utero. I haven't tried Foo Fighters, but Bernard Fanning seems to help (mind you it helps me relax so maybe he's just picking up on that).

Ours was Techno House music! Char used to kick non stop when I played it (very loud) in the car! If I was ever concerned about her movements, I used to go for a drive and play a particular hard house CD and sure enough she would start kicking! And now she LOVES it, starts bopping away, she has amazing rhythm too.

With Ashlee, we bought her a star night light/music box thing and used to play that on my tummy before we went to sleep. She still goes to sleep with that music box every night. Since I can't imagine Ash will want to share her 'star', I think we'll be buying and doing a similar thing for this babe!

I used to listen to lots of loud music in my car so caden settles well with any music lol.

But after he was born I used to sit and watch the E channel on sky all day lol, and now Caden LOVES LOVES the Girls Of The Playboy Mansion, theme song LOL, he goes all silent and sits up and watches it with a grin until the music stops!! Crazy! lol and he also gets all trans-fixed on Daily Keno, he squeals and babbels at the TV until it finishes!
He also liks the friends theme song lol.

When i was a baby my mum said that I used to like the Young and the restless theme song cos mum watched the soaps when she was a stay at home mum hehe
