When I was 19 weeks pregnant we went to Queenstown on our honeymoon to snowboard. I am a fairly competent snowboarder and was sooo looking forward to this trip.
Following the advice of my MW I did not board because of the risk of falling. There was also also the added risk of being "taken out" by someone else on the slopes.
She explained the risk of the placenta coming away and also the risk of seriously damaging yourself due to your ligaments being more flexible during pregnancy rather than the risk of just mildly damaging yourself.
There were lots of different opinions on Oh baby about whether there would be a risk or not and it was interesting reading about peoples experiences.
DH and I decided that I could go on the jet boat ride instead and then when we turned up there were signs specifically banning pregnant women. So our honeymoon was not the great adventure holiday I thought it would be but at least I know that I am "owed" some snow this season.
The sad news was that due the week of our honeymoon my friend who was 24 weeks pregnant actually lost her baby when her placenta was unable to provide the nutrients required for her baby after starting to detach. She wasn't on the honeymoon with us, (ie wasn't snowboarding) and hadn't had a fall or any other event which could explain why this occurred.
This was her second pregnancy, she was healthy, and no explanation has ever been offered other than it just being "one of those things that happen"
Things to consider
1. What did you do before you got pregnant. Ie if you biked and climbed regularly BP your body would be more used to these activities.
2. Risk of hurting yourself or being hurt by someone else ie another biker taking you out.
But you can't just sit on the couch for 40 weeks. Make sure you do some research, talk to your midwife and enjoy the camp.
