I'm having an IUD installed - couldn't face another pregnancy in a hurry so going for some serious (non-hormonal) contraception.

Tell me your experiences, good and bad. I've done the research but haven't heard other women's experiences.

i loved it! had it for 2years before we started TTC and i got a BFP the second month!had no problems-i was too late to put it back in after number 1 hence i have a 7week old girl- im definitely getting it again and soon-it beats worrying about putting on weight and hormonal stuff and made my AF lighter. its hassle free and because im a forgetful person- this worked for me!

Hehe Mrshouse, I'm presuming you had it taken out & then got pregnant??

I'm interested in this as well cause I'm thinking of getting one as well.

A quick question, I had an IUD put in in february and I am just wondering because Ive had my AF back once since stopping breast feeding but haven't had it for the last couple of months, could this just be because my body is getting back to normal after breastfeeding or is it normal for an IUD to make your periods disappear? or am I preggers! hehe (i hope not yet!)

I thought it was meant to make AF heavier?
Im not ready for another baby yet!

Not sure BeckyB, I wouldn't have thought it would have stopped it. Might be worth having a chat to your Dr?

My sheet doesn't say anything about stopping periods.

I have read that 1 in 4 woman stop getting periods. lucky you if that is the case!!
