I have been given a monitor from an aunty but there is a lot of interference on the parent unit so much so you would have to have it on silent or you wouldn't be able to sleep or concentrate! Just wondering if anyone knows if you can buy replacement parent sets (would this even solve the problem?) or would you need to buy a whole new monitor? The movement sensor works fine. The other thing is it is from the UK so maybe only made to work in the UK?? Does anyone have a customer support number for them? I can't find one on the website.
They work on a channel system. Most of the monitors have at least two channels. have you tried changing the channels? It can be difficult to find a monitor that works if living around alot of interference.
Changing the parent set isn't likely to help. Hope you can manage to change the channel and find one that doesn't pick everything up.
Changing the channel doesn't make any difference. I don't think I will need the sound monitor anyway as Bubs room is right next to ours and our house is quite small. So maybe I will just use the movement sensor and have the sound part turned off.
Hi Mrs-B. If the monitor you have is the same as mine, the sound/movement is in one i.e. you can't select an option for the movement sensor only. But if you're not too worried about hearing baby thru the monitor (i.e. your rooms are close enough you can hear bub anyway) the movement sensor alarm will still sound thru the parents unit if you have the volume turned right down.
trud- thanks for that i never knew...i have had volume turned off since he was about 2 months old as i just couldnt sleep but he always wakes me (even now) so i just have it for piece of mind..good to know if it sounded it would do that on the parents unit!
When I worked at Baby City we used to get a lot of parents coming back with all the monitors, and saying that there was too much interference. . . . .
Apparently (this is what we were told to tell people ) at Dick Smiths, or maybe any electronic store, you are able to buy a little device that cuts out all the interference! Magic! They are less than $10 and I am really sorry but I have no clue what they are called
Um, we had a similar problem. We found that making sure nothing else was plugged into the sockets helped to cut down interference and also changing the position to on the floor maybe or turning it around to face other way...whatever. We didn't need to buy anything else for it but good to know they exist if it still doesn't work out...better than buying a whole new monitor.
