Hi all,
Just thought I'd share some wisdom that saved my babies bottoms from nappy rash :)
I used the normal huggies wipes in hospital when my twin girls were born but after 5 days their little bottoms were so raw they were red and weeping blood! It was horrible.
When we got home we tried so many different wipes and creams but nothing was working.
Someone at some stage had brought us a box of Johnsons nappy liners (not sure why, we use disposables) they sell them at most supermarkets and look like blue chux cloths but much softer. So we decided to try them out as wipes and have never looked back. We just use the liners with some warm water to wipe the girls bums.
They work great! We haven't had a problem since. Not sure why these big nappy companys seem to think we need chemicals to wipe brand new bums! Try reading the ingrediants of some different brands of wipes even the ones that are meant to be sensitive have so many harsh sounding chemicals.
The wipes thing is crazy, isn't it?! I use them when we go out, but right at the start we just bought heaps of cheap facecloths/flannels and use them and just water. Seeing as we do so much washing anyway, they just get chucked in with everything else.
Yea we also used some cloths that looked like Chux but slightly cheaper (and surprisingly softer) from the Warehouse but they stoped stocking them so we switched to the Johnsons nappy liners. Very soft but not that cheap. We pay $8 for a pack of 100
