Our little munchkin is quickly outgrowing her baby bath and (she already hits her head when she stretches her legs out) but we don't have a bath.

I'm happy to use our kitchen sink, but I don't think I'll be able to until she can sit up (or when if she can sit up with me holding her). The sink is actually quite big but not long enough for her to have a bath without hitting her head/feet on the ends if she's lying down. Plus it's steel so it would hurt if she hits her head - unlike the plastic baby bath.

I was thinking of putting a tub in the bottom of our shower, but the door opens in so it won't fit very easily.

Any ideas what we can use?

You could just try showering her... some babies like it!

JJ hardly ever has a bath - I just shower with him! I once did some instructions in the July babies thread on this page about halfway down.

One of my ante natal friends said that they put their little baby bath seat thingy on the bottom of the shower and that that works.

Otherwise what about just holding her in the shower with you?

I would either invest in a bath seat to put in the bottom of the shower, or a tummy tub (I think that's what they're called) which apparently last for a long time. The other option is, like others said, to shower with her. When she starts sitting up you'll be able to use the baby bath again.

We didn't have a bath in our old place and I bathed Maya in one of those 60l tubs you get from the Warehouse. It didn't fit in the shower but we had a detachable shower head so I used that to fill it.

Otherwise you can get purpose-designed inflatable ones from the Baby Factory, we had one of those for a while too, it was really cute.

We just have Livvy is a small inflatable pool in our shower cubicle. The door isn't a problem because the pool just bends around it. She's playing with and getting used to the shower nozzle now so once she can stand we'll just shower her.

Here's a pic of it.

WOW I didn't expect that many responses in such a short time! Just been down to the Drs to get 5 mth jabs and already heaps of replies!!!

We might get an inflatable pool thingie - thanks for the photo, the pool looks like a really good idea (and what a cute baby Olivia is!!!!). Plus we have a MASSIVE house so it would be easy to chuck somewhere out of the way while still blown up.

Our bathroom sink is tiny and the laundry tub is used for smelly nappies so not too keen on that!

I might also try her in the shower with me - she loves water so she might really enjoy it! I was going to wait until DH was hope so he could grab her after the shower, but might just try it by myself.

we haven't got a bath either, and are still using a baby bath, albeit a large one from the baby factory. She is getting to be a bit of a pain in it now - stands up and looks out the kitchen window, but it might buy you a few more months.

Thanks for the other ideas - we're looking at what to do next!

When we were at my parents a couple of weeks ago the second bathroom where the bath is was being re-done and there was no water; so we washed the girls in one of those big plastic storage bins ($12.99 - we laughed as the price sticker was still on it). We filled it with the shower head and it was great. Amy is nearly 2 1/2 and she was fine in it.

We've only got a teeny house but we just leave the pool on it's side in the shower when we're not using it.

If you have the detachable shower heads, then you can give it to Tessa to play with while she's bathing.

I'd either sit her up in the baby bath or just shower her with yourself.

Hayden has a shower with his Dad on the weekends, we dont do the bath routine at night as it drys out his skin too much. I think it works better with Daddy as he has nice strong arms etc and bubs feels more secure but he's a grabby wee fellow so often takes his own flannel into the shower to hold onto other wise takes great pinchy handfuls of Daddy's man boobs lol
