Topic: Auckland X Ray Services Posted: 24 June 2008 at 10:21pm |
Those you have had a 4D scan at Auckland X Ray Services did your prints come out black and white? Dh and I were kind of disappointed as they were black and white and we were hoping that we got the actual colour of the 4D
Any ideas?????

mine were black and white and some where a sepia colour. I was really dissappointed with my experience there - she was so rough and rude! Put me off having any other scans for the rest of my pregnancy and we really wanted to know what we were having
*whinge over*
Jess - it is so scary how Max already looked like Ella in those scan photos!!!

There have been quite a few people here (and elsewhere) that have had quite bad experiences at Auckland Xray services (and from what I can make out, they all stem from the same *rough & rude* radiographer).
Our 3D photos are sepia coloured (the coppery-tones you saw during the scan), but overall we weren't that impressed. We had to ask at the end of the scan for her to go back and look for the sex of the baby, as she wasn't even going to look! (and here I thought it was an anatomy scan!)

I do know that a friend's MW was making an official complaint against this one radiographer (on behalf of yet another person), so maybe she's not there anymore? It seemed like she was the only one doing the 4D scans for a while... (i.e. EVERYONE I spoke to had her for their 4D scan)

I asked my MW to complain about her too (I have no idea what her name was - very short asian lady). I got really upset as she kept saying "ohhh tiny baby" (I was 19+4 (so not quite 20wks) and when I asked if something was wrong she ignored me! I was freaking out because a few months before I got pregnant my friend had her baby at 27 weeks due to IUGR
Turned out that Caitlin was defintely NOT a tiny baby, she was born 9lb 7oz!
This woman was digging the probe deep into my belly then shaking it to get her to move! It was painful for me so I'm sure it was to bubs as well
I'd never go back there again! Would rather not have the 4D scan at all

IMO if you're going to fork out $100+ for a 4D scan, you're better off going to Ascot or Insight where they have better equipment and are considered the leaders in their field. The only attraction with Akld Xray was that they were doing them cheap, $30-odd.
I had a bad experience there that bordered on malpractise when I was pregnant with the gremlins, they had overbooked appointments so rushed thru a twin growth scan that should take a min. 45 mins in 20 mins and the 4D pics were dreadful. I made an official complaint to their director and he was very apologetic and offered to repeat the 4D part of the scan. We did get some good images the second time but I was still not impressed with their customer service and I'd certainly never go back there.

Ditto everyone else's bad experience! We got 4 black and white pics at the 18 week scan. I was so unhappy that I complained - to their credit, they redid the 4D component (but with the same radiographer that people have commented on, and I had to justify to her why I was getting it done again!). I wouldn't go there again.

Sounds like everyone has had good and bad experience with them. You get what you paid for $50 compare to $160 at Ascot. Somehow I think my husband and I were better off paying the $160 and getting good quality pics.

I will be going back to Insight for the rest of my scans, the lady I had yesterday was so friendly she answered all questions was very clear about everything. And their 4D scans they were showing were printed in a dark yellow colour.

I had to pay Akl Xray $138 as I am part of middlemore. I am happy to pay it and get my 80% back but not if it means I am going to have a bad experience. Any how Ascot is closer as I work in Penrose.
I just need to make sure that Sh Cross will give me 80% if I get it done under Ascot!
And my phone at work isnt working....arrrgggg!!

I had two scans done a Auckland X Ray.
The first experience was lovely - not rushed some beautiful pics and a lovely dvd and the lady was more than happy to show us the sex.
Second scan the lady appeared to be very rushed and impatient.

I presume that we are talking about Auckland Radiology here? I had a shocking experience with them where they gave me one set of dates from an early scan, then changed their minds and adjusted them, it caused all sorts of problems, as my midwife couldnt get anyone to agree on my actual dates. When O was born my m/w took one look at him and said "wow - he is about 2 weeks overcooked...." which is what I had been saying all along. I also had scans at Insight (as part of the scope study) and at Ascot, both were brilliant!

SimSam - No Auckland Radiology is different from Auckland Xray. I had my Nuchal scan with Auckland Radiology. The lady was lovely but the qulity of scan was crap and I ended up with these Xray like scan pics that you have to hold up at light to see...

I must have had the 'good lady' as I was totally stoked at the service from Auckland X Ray Services. I thought that the receptionist was a bit rude (I was running 5 mins late, and she let me know about it) - my fault for being late I suppose... They gave me 2 CD's, one with the whole thing in real time, and the other with heaps of snap shots. She took a lot of time explaining what all of the bits and pieces were. The 4d's were in black and white on the print outs, but in sepia tone on the CD. And everything only cost $50... with no insurance or anything.
Kiwigal I feel bad for you as I expressed how happy I was in the October thread about the place and you did not have a good experience - sorry!
Here is one of the pics anyway...
