First I'd like to say a HUGE thanks to everyone on the Oh Baby forums - I find I refer to the forums every few days (since mid-pregnancy) to find answers to different questions that pop up. I see no reason in re-inventing the wheel when there are so many helpful people on here that have "been there, done that".

I have just started using cloth nappies (as of 9am this morning!!!!!) and was thinking of making some inserts or boosters for them. I have the BG pockets, and the inserts they came with. At the moment I've started with two BG inserts to keep the nappies wide (clicky hips). She is due to wake so we'll see how that went in a few minutes...

I want to make some interts/boosters myself and was just wondering what fabric/s you find best for and how many layers? I have been reading about hemp & cotton - are these usually combined? How many do you usually use in each nappy for day/night? Our daughter is 1 month old and usually sleeps for 3 hours during the day and 5 hours at night so would need inserts that would last for that time although I would like them to still work when she's older and (hopefully) sleeping longer)! We live ages from town so I'd rather do a bulk order of fabric and make them all myself (and cheaper!) so thought I'd ask for advice of what you find works!!

I know you can buy fabric from Bumbles and Greenbeans - does anyone know of any other places online to buy fabric (not just nappy fabric - other fabric too). I want to make my own cloth wipes too and the flanelette prints look so cute!

I'm pretty sure that Angie from Designer Bums sells fluffy microfibre? I am not suuuch a huge fan of the Greenbeans microfibre but have heard good things about DB's stuff.

Apart from that hemp and microfibre are a good combo, sewing together each layer so that you are able to fold in three to make a pad shape is a common way to do it. Make sure you pre-wash the hemp as it shrinks a lot compared to microfibre.

Apparently BKT (burley knit terry) is also good. I haven't used it myself but I think Deb (bizzy) will be able to tell you more.

I haven't answered all your questions... I hope someone else will be able to pick up where I am slack.
