Rohann used to be really good at tummy time, holding her head up for ages etc. But now she's discovered her hand is right there and spends most of tt sucking on her fist and isn't interested in looking up no matter what toys I put around her (or me lying there with her etc)!! Has this happened to anyone else, and has anyone got any suggestions to get her back to holding her head up again???

Lauren did this too, in time she started to lift her head up again. She was a slow developer with head control, but now she is super strong and is an early crawler. So they all reach milestones at many different paces!

I would just keep giving her tummy time and she will eventually get back into it again!

Caprece hated it and would turn her head to the side and just lay there. She wasn't delayed in her crawling by it either. Just keep the tummy time up she will eventually start holding her head up again.

Olivia has started doing exactly that in the last week too. I figure that once the novelty of sucking on her hand wears off she'll lift her head again.

Gabs can lift her head but will only do it sometimes, often she will find her fist and start sucking to, or just get really sh*tty and grizzle about it all LOL!

I wouldn't worry, she's still very young, you'll probably find that once she hits the 3-4 month mark she'll be more interested.

what about a mirror for motivation? or use a softer surface to make it easier for her, like a swiss ball or some pillows until she gets a bit stronger

Ahhh, so it sounds pretty normal. That's fine then I shall just leave her to do her own thing then, it just seemed odd especially as she has really good head control and has done right from day one. Wonder how long it will be before she finds her other fist??....

The same has happened to Chloe! She used to push up really well during tummy time, and now most of the time she just sucks her hands or rests her head on her hands. Like she's worked out that she can be lazy Sometimes I put the tv on with her in front of it for five or ten mins, because that way she actually looks up.

Although yesterday, the cheeky little monkey discovered she can rest her head on her arms at an angle, so she can still watch without lifting her head.

But she is starting to push up a lot with her back legs now. Once she has worked out to do her arms and legs at the same time, I guess we will be in for some trouble

When Eva wasn't keen on TT, I lay her across a large rubber ball and she loved it. She would always hold her head up really high. You can roll them forward to back and side to side. Good for their balance as well.

I have heard that's good... wish we had a big rubber ball, lol. Another thing you can do is support her chest and waist with your hands, and fly her slowly around like superman. If you take her on all different angles, and do it slow enough for her to take in all the info, it's meant to be really good for developing their vestibular system (balance etc). When Chloe is grumpy, I do that, because it usually stops her crying straight away. I guess it's hard to grizzle when you are trying to hold your head up and keep your balance

I did this yesterday and got an impressive baby badge all down my front!
I'd forgotten which baby I'd burped and was taking her over for a nappy change
