QuoteReplyTopic: slight fever, cramps. Nerofen ok? Posted: 07 April 2008 at 7:19am
Hi,
I'm 4 days past ov and yesterday got very bad cramps - enough to have me doubled over and crying in public. I ended up taking some nerofen. I felt pretty tired all evening and by 8.30 my temp was 37.3, I'm achy all over and struggling to walk. The cramping isn't as bad as it was yesterday but it's still sore. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to take more nurofen? does it lower fevers and will it harm a pregnancy if I have one?
thanks for your help
I was always told if I needed anything for pain etc during pregnancy then panadol/paracetamol is completely safe to take. Nurofen is a but stronger and I think you should probably avoid taking any more unless a doctor gives you the ok, as it does have warning not to use while pregnant unless under medical supervision.
If you could possibly be pregnant (and lets hope you are) then DONT use nurofen. As far as I am aware Panadol is the only safe painkiller to use. And that sucks!!!! But the pain will be worthwhile if you do get a BFP
Just out of interest since you're past O, there's some medical research that's found that non-steroidal anti-inflammatories - that includes Neurofen and anything containing ibuprofen - can negatively impact fertility - something about making the egg harder to penetrate, I think.
hope you feel better soon Konagirl!
That's good to know. I don't usually take painkillers - we brought the packet because I was so miserable yesterday. Won't take anymore and will tough it out unless it gets really bad again and take paracetomol if needed.
Would love to know what on earth is going on. Yes I've had a temp but the cramping is a bit strange as I'm only 4dpo. Unless af is going to be super super early for me. And even then I may get the odd niggle but nothing like it's been the last 24hours.
