Ethan had his first imms yesterday... he was great while there adn for a while afterwards...before hand hadnt slept since 12(was at 2 as he got woken up twice in the car) and slept as we drove home...then i gave him pamol adn fed him..and then no sleep..till 730pm:(
anyway then he woke at 1145, gave him his dummy slept till 1245 and i fed him and gave him more pamol and bed...he seems ok but has much more of a high pitched shrill cry for a few seconds when normally would just be a normal sort of cry..:( he's only done it three times..but its horrible..is he ok?:( he's gone back to sleep and seems fine temp wise ....(up 1245-130)
also they measured him and he's only grown .5 cm(4 pounds in 6 weeks though..so from 56 to 56.5 and 7p3 to 11p3)..is that normal? sorry to seem like a paranoid first time Mum..just worried about him!!
Dont worry too much about the measuring. they arent that accurate at docs. They only need to know the weight for any adverse reaction so it would be quickly measured. As for length.....we even had Tom shrink! Its really hard to get a baby straight enough to measure. I had him measured at Plunket last week and he had a meltdown and the nurse said she didnt feel we got the measurement right.
Yeah at Spencers last visit his head had shrunk The plunket nurse said it must have been measured wrong last time.
You might find that next visit he has put less weight but grown loads in length.
Daniel wouldn't sleep at all after his first imms. The only way that he would sleep (even dosed up as much as poss on pamol) was lying on his tummy on me with a wet cloth breast pad (yes a bit weird) sitting on his injection site. The imms knock them around a bit. He sounds ok to me.
Daniel often doesnt grow in height with some visits but then grows heaps with following ones. I think that its terribly inaccurate especially if its different people doing it each time.
thanks...yeah she did say it could be wrong but then she tried again(his head was at an angle as he was over being there and pushed and prodded by three different people by then) they told us 56.5 at hospital then 56..and now 56.5 again!
as far as sleeping yeah if he carried on i would have had him sleep on his tummy on me too..this sucks..and he has to do it heaps more times:( !!! hope it gets better..i know the 4 yr old ones suck. !!
good to know that it doesnt matter too much..the doc said for weight and head he needed to be carrying on along the same percentile..he didnt say about length as i was measured after i saw him.
he woke up at 545...back to sleep again at 640(quicker than normal) and is grunting away but seems better..
