Hi girls,
For the last few days I have had moments of feeling extremely hungry and then the odd moment of feeling sick. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, what have you done? It seems that nothing I eat satisfies me!

Yeah I started becoming absolutely ravenous about the time you are now. Just eat small amounts often. Try to grab low GI stuff, apples, muesli bars, wholegrain bread (I went mad on carbs lol!)
Don't beat yourself up about eating heaps either - you're doing a lot of hard work at the moment.
For feeling seedy I found lemon callippo iceblocks were a godsend. But everyone finds different things work.

yup!
in fact, i still have it. i can become so hungry in the morning that i dry reach, or worse still power chuck with no warning.
the only thing that used to satisfy me in the early days was carbs. Bacon and egg mcmuffins were the best!

Yep, definitely! I just gave in and ate heaps of pizza, wedges, cheeseburgers etc etc  Just this last week though I have noticed my appetite has come back to normal and I'm eating more healthy. Your body obviously needs more calories so I would just go for it, although maybe try eat better foods than I did!
If that fails, just do what I did and say 'the baby made me do it'

I still get hungry days. I think it's combined with growth spurts.
I found oranges to be good to counteract the sick feeling. The sharp taste I found good. Also Miso soup was my saviour

Im glad Im not the only one! I get confused between the ...äm I really hungry...or do I want to vomit then I realise that its both!  my healthy eating has gone out the door! now I know why people can put on weight in pregnancy you just cant help what you grab to eat (well you can  ) but I always feel like the carbs plain things or cheese and crackers or something! my ms has only just really kicked in and im strugling how to deal with it! a friend in oz mentioned to me pregnancy pops????? have no idea what they are though look forward to hearing what others find helpful

Thanks for your advice girls  Hopefully I am not going to feel like this every day! With my first pregnancy I tended to have probably 1 really hungry day per week so that wasn't bad but this time around it's a little different. Not complaining though

i ate badly for 12 weeks but have only put on 1.7kgs so far. i was weighed at the end of the 12 weeks and hadnt put on anything.
obviously my body was in need of all the carbs and extra food!

I totally hear you, feeling starving but the thought of eating half the food in my pantry makes me nauseaous its so frustrating.
Worst of all I'm totally off my vegies, not sure why as usually fine with veg but this past two weeks I've been seriously avoiding them and when I do put them in my mouth they put me off my whole dinner and I cant eat another mouthful. Trying to eat more fruit to compensate.
Beef casserole and mash tonight, hopefully that will go down easy!

Kiwikid I've been off veges the whole pregnancy. Before then I was a vege fiend. But I did find my fruit craving went up.
I can manage carrot sticks but that's about it
0h and also greek salad - cucumber, tomato, and feta cheese - I guess it's tangy enough for me to handle it.

My hunger kicks in at night. I go to bed at 10 and wake up (reliably) at 12, 2, 4 and 5 to eat. Means I trot off to bed with a pile of food and wake up exhausted and with a yucky feeling mouth!

In the early months I was hungry all the time... and as soon as I was hungry I would throw up about ten mins later! I lived on toast and potatoes 'cos starch was all that stayed down. While I was waiting for toast etc. to cook I used to have an iceblock, the sugar seemed to make me feel a bit better and less chance of throwing up. Just make sure you don't let yourself get too hungry, eat something as soon as you need to! Sucking on a lollipop or an iceblock helped me a bit.
I couldn't keep down fruit or veg or dairy food for the first 5 months. But now those are my favourite foods... can't get enough fruit and veg and drink litres and litres of milk! I still have MS but only throw up once a day-ish now.

yep, you can have feta, as long as it's not open for more than 2 days. Check out NZ food safety authority website - it's great.

I feel bad for myself because I was eating heaps of fruit and vege early in the pregnancy (ie. whole heads of broccoli at a time!) as well as red meats, now I can't stomach anything other than toast, weet-bix and mcd's! No wonder my iron levels have dropped quite a lot!

kye i still avoid feta.. all my books say too and its soft cheese ..even though its pasteriused i still avoid it.. not worth the risk for me...

Isnt it confusing all the different advice, all the stuff I have read / downloaded says feta is fine, its pasturised and if you eat it in two days from a sealed pack its okay. To me that says there is no risk, just the same as eating chedder or edam cheese really.
Ahhh now that I think of it do be careful though cos you can get goats cheese that is soft, you know the spreadable kind, that is made with rind (like brie etc) and that is part of the bad soft cheese thing.
The crumbly hard stuff is feta and is fine, the soft, spreadable, creamy stuff is called Chevre and I would avoid that
But that is totally my opinion only
