Topic: dehydrated... Posted: 08 November 2007 at 3:56pm |
I found in the evenings my skin is very dehydrated, leaves imprints of my clothes on my skin. I am drinking a lot during the day, and of course going to the toilet all the time. But would it be that I'm not drinking enough still? I drink more than 8 glasses of something a day not always water, but juices, cordials aswell???

some cordials may have too much additives or stuff...but you should be able to tell by the colour of your urine if you are dehydrated...

hhm, my urine is always yellow not bright bright yellow, but not as diluted as it used to be prior to pregnancy. I also take the pregnancy/breast feeding vitamins and thought they may have been making it yellower.

Maybe try keeping a sipper bottle of water with you all the time.
I found that having it with me made me drink more and the more water I had, the more I felt like drinking it. Also made me less inclined to drink as much of the less hydrating stuff.

You may just need to drink more. I have had extreme thirst lately (drank 7L on Monday). Am drinking 4L most days atleast. I just always feel thirsty.

Are you sure it's dehydration? You'll be storing a lot more fluid in your body so you might just be getting marks from softer skin?

I always find my morning wee is very bright, but thats because you lose alot of water during your sleep as your body is trying to recover from the day before (and its not like we can all sleepwalk to get water).
During my day, I drink about 3 litres of water and my pee runs clear during that time. I stay away from cordials and fizzies etc, as they have preservatives and tend to give me heartburn anyway.
If I leave the house I take a pump sized water bottle with me. If I am home, I walk around with a 1.5L kiwi blue sized bottle. It's funny because pre-preg I didn't drink that much water, unless I was at work as we had a water cooler.

My urine is always yellow from taking vitamins... I have been getting imprints too but my midwife said it's because my body is storing more fluid. If you are drinking heaps, are u sure it's not fluid retention thats making you get imprints from your clothes?

DH left an ear imprint on my tummy after listening talking to bubs!
For me it's definitely not dehydration as I'm drinking water consistently throughout the day. I'd put it down to the extra blood flow in my body.

I hadn't even thought of fluid retention. I do get fluidy ankles if I have been standing for a long time so it sounds like that will be it. I have an appt next week with MW so I will double check with her. I thought I was drinking plenty.
Lol to the ear print... did DH hear anything??? :)
